Did anyone commemorate or in any way acknowledge St George's Day? I put a vase of red roses in my front window and in my suit wearing days wore one in my buttonhole.
I shall be pouring a very large glass of this later:-

Whatever next, a thread to commemorate Hitlers birthday? This thread is offensive and racist to all.
I think if you were to celebrate Hitlers birthday, you would find some friends here...
What the hell is that supposed to mean?
who are you talking about?
Shurely shome mishtake?

Eye dialect spelling of surely some mistake. Originally coined by Private Eye in imitation of the slurred speech of a drunken editor, or of the lisping Daily Telegraph editor Bill Deedes.

Highlights a mistake, actual or perceived, which the writer feels is ironic or humorous

And?

And I believe that you have missed my point. I am joining you in wondering what the fk the two quoted members are talking about.

I wondered whether they were a pair of poorly conceived 'jokey' posts, but fear that they were actually serious, in some too foolish to be taken seriously way.

Sorry, sorry.

I was actually quite offended by the original trasher.

If we cannot celebration England's National Day in peace, without being trolled by our fellow countrymen, then we truly deserve to be wiped out by those who take their countries seriously (almost any other nationality)

I am constant as the northern star,
Of whose true-fixed and resting quality
There is no fellow in the firmament.
The skies are painted with unnumbered sparks.
They are all fire and every one doth shine,
But there’s but one in all doth hold his place.
So in the world. 'Tis furnished well with men,
And men are flesh and blood, and apprehensive,
Yet in the number I do know but one
That unassailable holds on his rank,
Unshaked of motion. And that I am he

I must admit I like that about the English. They/we have the same conceit as every other nation but feel it inappropriate to stuff it down the throat of others. Possibly because we don't really care what the others think.
Exactly, I'm proud to be English and I live in England. For me, every day is St George's day. But to be honest, most of the year, I couldn't even tell you what date St George's day is.

Now I'm not one to be picky but the norther star is far from constant. In Roman times there was a different one, and Polaris has only been in situ for a few hundred years years. Indeed, it is a 'variable' star as well, so constant, fixed, resting, hold its place, holds its rank, unshaked motion (it's on the move) are not really qualities to be associated with it.

In human terms it's constant.
