Hopefully it will backfire and he will get 20 years.

Or alternatively a decision might be made on legal grounds that the evidence wasn't substantial enough to convict. Hopefully it will backfire and he will get 20 years.
We shall have to wait and see.

In your indignant ranting you appear to have overlooked the fact that he's already received what is effectively a life sentence.I'm only surprised you haven't suggested exhuming such remains of Jimmy Savile as may exist, and putting them on trial.

He's appealing against sentence, not conviction, so you won't have to wait that long.We shall have to wait and see.

That isn't what is being reported, Derek. Both Sky and BBC website reports state he's applying for permission to appeal against conviction.
My apologies.Checked on The Guardian:
"Rolf Harris, the veteran children's entertainer jailed last month for indecently assaulting a series of women and girls as young as eight, has sought to appeal against his sentence, the Judicial Office has said."
So maybe it is both?

The scumbag Lost prophets lead singer did similar recently - appeal for harsh sentencing rejected term stands.
Rolf would need some new evidence to challenge it simply bleating its not fair is tough luck.
Or maybe as he has plenty of money he realises pushing for appeals etc does no harm to him in increase sentencing terms but what it does do is to get him out side general innate population for periods of time. Is that worth the £ - quite possibly to a nonce if you have the money. I might be way over thinking this scenario but it is an interesting option to consider.

There doesn't need to be new evidence in order to appeal. We don't know the basis of the application here, either. It may allege that evidence that should have been excluded or included was not, or that the jury was misdirected, or that the judge erred in not allowing an application to stay at some point, or the judge made an irrational decision, and so on.
As for Harris, he'll be left where he is whilst the legal process goes on, so no satellite benefit in appealing beyond trying to get out following a successful appeal.
My hunch is that he won't get permission at the first attempt, though no doubt we'll find out if and when he does.

Two things here. 1 - Rolf has an £11 million fortune. 2. According to one of the tabloids, he's been attacked in prison. One or more of the lags spat at him.
Alright, yes I know it's the Daily Wail and I'm very sorry.

This surprises me - is expect a nonce to get a bit more than attempted spit. Alright, yes I know it's the Daily Wail and I'm very sorry.

I hope that lost prophets scumbag is getting more physical punishment than a failed spit attempt.
