Why did it take 4 local residents, who risked everything, to bring this case to court? Why did the authorities or cps not do more?

I am beginning to think it's because the system has endemic corruption. It looks like a possibility that the old guard have been looking after themselves and their mates, abusing kids and living it large off the state so when a new crowd got in on the act they could handle it for fear of exposing their mates.

Borderline banana republic.

Strange ? Just listening to 5live reporting this and no mention which party he ran under? Was he an independant? Or a Labour candidate I wonder?

Independent I believe.

Ken Livingstone said "anyone who calls for Rahman's resignation is a racist"(or something like that). He was on LBC a short while ago and still refuses to condemn the man.

Same reason Pakistani sex abuse gangs were not investigated. It's all part of our exciting Multi culti society now. Any one who complains is a racist (see standard leftie comment from Red Ken).

It's not getting much news coverage. Just about hanging on the BBC news / guardian / daily mail home pages but nowhere near the top. I know it is not a parliamentary seat election that's been declared void but it's still quite big news surely?

He was a labour councillor but they deselected him after it was uncovered that there were shenanigans involved in that selection vote. He threatened various legal actions but eventually went on to stand as an independent.

Is multi-culturalism responsible for the cover up of political peadophiles?

They are all at it.

Black, Brown or White. Knob heads of all colours and political persuasions.

Christian, Jews and Muslims.

No, being part of the establishment is why they were covered up.

If it was Joe Bloggs and his band of merry white perverts I doubt it would be ignored and covered up.

I believe there is a political elite that really need culling before we can move on. I am convinced that I am the same as any "immigrant" in wanting to live my life peacefully and without the state fking about.
there is something dark and sinister about the ruling classes in this country.

Telling comments from the judge regarding the Labour party:

Judgement Notes said:
It may be that the Labour Party simply thought the game not worth the candle and was not prepared to risk its money. On the other hand it may be, like so many others who have come up against Mr Rahman, the Party was not prepared to risk the accusations of racism and Islamophobia that would have been bound to follow any petition.
Strikes me as a bit cowardly. They knew this was going on but kept quiet!

I quite enjoyed the coverage on the last 10 minutes of Radio 4's PM. I think Eddie Mair called him a vote rigging crook or something equally accurate and blunt.

There is less coverage of this then I expected. Imagine if it had been a Tory or Labour Mayor.

The Times does have a leading article titled 'Rotten Borough' which may or may not be a subtle complement to Private Eye.

Article in the Telegraph today asking the same questions as me along with a new threat of“postal voting factories” where thousands of fake votes were being cast.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/11559...

Article said: "The Metropolitan Police has also come under fire for failing to do anything to address concerns about Rahman’s behaviour since he became leader of the council in 2008 and then the elected mayor two years later.
Instead it was left to four ordinary voters who picked up the case after it was dropped by the police to convince the courts of Rahman’s corruption."

All smells a bit Rotherham to me but this time a rotten borough and rotten police force in the heart of London. It is awfully concerning.

I caught the end of a R4 interview this morning where what appeared to be the new Mayor of TH was trying very hard to avoid saying he disagreed with the judge, even though he clearly did. A chap by the name of Rahman. Coincidence?

"Police are facing criticism for failing to investigate allegations of widespread election fraud"

Of course they failed. If they had investigated it would have been racialist.
