London cabbies to protest over smartphone app.
Discussion
We've started to get problems in our provincial town now.
The last two PH cabs we've booked have had a meter running and then at the end of the journey a higher "minimum charge" figure has popped up.
Last night I ended up having quite a heated dialogue with the driver and his control before I got my change. The driver's response was, "if I'd known I'd have these problems I wouldn't have bidded [sic] for the job.
It seems that customers and drivers are being fed two different stories and are being left to argue the toss at point of payment.
Uber has arrived in Southampton and the local chip wrapper says that most of the existing private hire drivers have signed up to it.
There are still the usual comments about the uber drivers being uninsured rapists on the article though even though they are exactly the same drivers who work for other companies.

I thought it was the London Black Cabs protesting about Uber. So what's this about?? :

A smarter organisation would be looking to setup a similar system for black cabs only, rather than trying to hold back the tide.
There in lies the problem. Those with the monopoly often fail to innovate and only realise when it's too late.
