Actually now I come to think about it, it was quite a ridicules thought, because 2 years ago we had the Minister of Defence who is a closet homosexual employing his younger lover as a 'consultant' to enrich himself. And today I heard Cameron was going to bring him back into Goverment !
Tis a strange world these people occupy....

We've had Vaz on the TV this afternoon talking about morals and putting the right person into a position of authority. He, the one who used the bombing of an army recruitment centre to further his career. Who lobbied on behalf of rich mates of his, who told lies about a police woman. He is the person who, according to Filkin (should she chair this enquiry?), blocked her enquiry into multiple allegations against him of accepting 'donations', limiting his culpability to just a few. He's the one who . . . oh, so many.
I assume you haven't seen this nugget:http://theneedleblog.wordpress.com/2014/07/11/keit...
"In 1991 Keith Vaz proposed a new law to protect the ‘innocence’ of his ‘friend’ and ‘neighbour’ Greville Janner because of the ‘lies’ that had been told about the now Lord Janner."

Another to add to:http://theneedleblog.wordpress.com/2014/07/11/keit...
"In 1991 Keith Vaz proposed a new law to protect the ‘innocence’ of his ‘friend’ and ‘neighbour’ Greville Janner because of the ‘lies’ that had been told about the now Lord Janner."
Rushdie affair
Shortly after being elected in 1989, Vaz led a march of several thousands of Muslims in Leicester calling for Salman Rushdie's book The Satanic Verses to be banned . . . attended by over three thousand Muslims, and described that event as ‘one of the great days in the history of Islam and Great Britain.’
Leicester IRA attack
In February 1990, after a bombing attack by the IRA against a British Army recruiting centre in Leicester, Vaz publicly suggested that the Army had stored explosives on the premises.
Filkin inquiry
Elizabeth Filkin began an investigation after allegations that Vaz had accepted several thousand pounds from a solicitor, Sarosh Zaiwalla, which he had failed to declare . . . He was censured for a single allegation – that he had failed to register two payments worth £4,500 . . . Elizabeth Filkin accused Vaz of blocking her investigation into eighteen of the allegations.
Hinduja affair
Vaz . . . contacted the Home Office about the Hinduja brothers [making] inquiries about when a decision on their application for citizenship could be expected.
[Much, much later, after many denials] Vaz said that he had made representations during the Hinduja brothers' applications for British citizenship while a backbench MP. Tony Blair also admitted that Vaz had "made representations" on behalf of other Asians.
Wellworth reading much more on this matter.
The Eggington case
Again well worth reading, with lots and lots of accusations against a woman. The Commons committee decided that she was telling the truth. They added: "Mr Vaz recklessly made a damaging allegation against Miss Eggington, which was not true and which could have intimidated Miss Eggington and undermined her credibility."
The complaints the committee upheld against Mr Vaz were:[23]
That he had given misleading information to the Standards and Privileges Committee and Elizabeth Filkin about his financial relationship to the Hinduja brothers.
That he had failed to register his paid employment at the Leicester Law Centre when he first entered Parliament in 1987.
That he had failed to register a donation from the Caparo group in 1993.
It was concluded that Vaz had "committed serious breaches of the Code of Conduct and showed contempt for the House" and it was recommended that he be suspended from the House of Commons for one month.
Nadhmi Auchi[edit]
Vaz assisted Anglo-Iraqi billionaire Nadhmi Auchi in his attempts to avoid extradition to France.
Counter-Terrorism Bill
Hilarious bit of ‘confusion’ on Vaz's behalf.
Conflict of interest
Vaz faced pressure to explain why he failed to declare an interest when he intervened in an official investigation into the business dealings of a close friend, solicitor Shahrokh Mireskandari, who has played a role in several racial discrimination cases against the Metropolitan Police, and who was representing Assistant CommissionerTarique Ghaffur in his racial discrimination case against Scotland Yard Commissioner Sir Ian Blair.
Detention without charge inquiry
In July 2007, Vaz was appointed chairman of the Home Affairs Select Committee. Select committee members are usually proposed by the Committee of Selection, but Vaz was the only nomination made by Commons Leader Harriet Harman.
. . . it was revealed that he had sought the private views of Prime Minister Gordon Brown in connection with the Committee's independent report . . . [again, no change from Vaz: same ol, same old]
Parliamentary expenses[edit]
Vaz's expenses were subject of a Telegraph article . . .well worth reading.
Patrick Mercer scandal
Vaz . . . agreed to be on the all-party parliamentary group . . . as part of his paid advocacy for fake lobbyists. [MP] Mercer was recorded describing Vaz as "a crook of the first order", adding that he had "never met an operator like him . . . he is an operator".
The Committee on Standards deciding that he had brought the House of Commons into disrepute.
Alternative medicine[edit]
Vaz has signed several early day motions sponsored by David Tredinnick supporting the continued funding of homoeopathy on the National Health Service.

Ok I can almost understand that a large organisation 'lost' this dossier, especially if as reported it was investigated and found no further action was needed. But surely the author would have kept a copy, if I'd put that much work into it I'd have a copy on my personnel file, every time I see the mps son on the tv I want to shout and ask him were his dad's copy went.

I expect the process for document handling and copies will be under the microscope. Wonder what it was in them days.Derek Smith said:

Lots of shuffling and resignations from the cabinet. Any connection to this then?
It was the first thought that crossed my mind. Some will not be seeking reelection. If it were me in the cabinet there would be no way I'd resign at the moment.

Just a thought though, it seems the civil service handling of documents is pretty shambolic so there may be an outside chance of a stray copy laying about somewhere.
I know that in the '90s the War Pensions folk still had paper files on people going back to the Boer War, safely stored in an old mill in rural Lancashire, so not all civil service departments are good at losing files - but of course they weren't potentially embarrassing to someone in power so unlikely to be 'lost'Derek Smith said:

Absolutely sickening listening to that man isn't it? Its a great pity parliamentary privilege doesn't extend to members of the public talking about MP's.When I first started working with Italian people, I studied their character and way of life and was surprised at the corruption, cronyism and hypocracy to be found amongst their public figures.
Years later I think I owe the Italian nation an apology, as it appears we are just as bad if not worse without the excuse of being in the malevolent grip of the Catholic church.
Where will this scandal end? Am I right in thinking that it could be the biggest scandal for centuries or, rather like the banking crisis, the Establishment are so big they cannot be allowed to collapse, resulting in another massive cover up?
