Not related I think, except, perhaps, for the NCA to show what it is doing at such a critical time.

660. Good.

On top of that, others must be worried, really worried.

Useful information and related reading about MPs.

How many MPs are there in the House of Commons?

After the General Election 2010, 650 MPs were elected.

Not related - there is now a note on the BBC report stressing that none of those arrested are ex or serving MPs or government officials.

I included it in this thread rather than starting another because it reminded me of the Home Secretary's view last week that the 'dossier' reviews should not be conflated with ongoing investigation of crimes, which is obviously going well.

It's the scale of it this that has also surprised me, from a logistical view rather than the numbers offending.

How? Have they even identified the children?

Yes, sorry, I was just confirming Derek's "not relevant I think."

Indeed the logistics are impressive:

From BBC -

"The investigation involved 45 police forces across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland and saw "unprecedented level of co-operation," the NCA added.

Officers have searched 833 properties and examined 9,172 computers, phones and hard drives."

Although it was very brief I think I heard on LBC that they have been taken in to care - perhaps I misheard as it was brief and that information is mind blowing, to me anyhow.

Why do we need another snooping law rushed through if they can already do it? confused

Remember Don Hale the journalist who campaigned on the Stephen Downing and Barry George miscarriages of justice.

He is claiming that Barbara Castle gave him a dossier listing paedophiles and giving names when he was editor of the Bury Messenger.

He is quoted in the Mail (nowhere else I can see yet) that Cyril Smith visited asking him not to publish.

He didn't give assurance that he wouldn't and next day raided by the Branch waving D notices and seized the dossier accompanied by numerous threats if he ever spoke out.

So, what next?

On the BBC it said that some children were taken into care and some parents were warned about the viewing habits of a relative/friend to safeguard the children.

When I first started working with Italian people, I studied their character and way of life and was surprised at the corruption, cronyism and hypocracy to be found amongst their public figures.

Years later I think I owe the Italian nation an apology, as it appears we are just as bad if not worse without the excuse of being in the malevolent grip of the Catholic church.

Where will this scandal end? Am I right in thinking that it could be the biggest scandal for centuries or, rather like the banking crisis, the Establishment are so big they cannot be allowed to collapse, resulting in another massive cover up?
the saddest thing is we the british people will not give a st,when we should be dragging evry single one of these twisted s from their ivory towers and burning them in the street as a warning to the establishment to get it,s house in order.

I bet many of those arrested are parents........so they will probably be counting those kids in that figure.

So why are there no MP's, Lords, high level celebs (is there such a thing) or royals in that list?

They did say in one of the reports that the people arrested were from all walks of life, from doctors, judges, scout leaders to blue collar workers.

Uh, you do realise the point of this thread is that there is a list of such people contained in a dossier which has mysteriously vanished..

And in due course it would appear the Mirror will be naming names anyways, so that may well change soon enough.

In addition Jeremy Vine has, for once, a useful contribution via researchers & the ex-CEOPS Jim Gamble 01.42.00 discussing the huge numbers of arrests required to keep pace with abusers, all with a diminished police force.

I very rarely watch TV so years behind but just watching The Comic Strip Presents Hunt for Blair:

http://www.channel4.com/programmes/comic-strip-pre...

About 33 minutes in they ask the Mandelson/Nigel Planner character where Blair/Stephen Mangan could be hiding. A well known youthful singer and Barbados are mentioned.
