And this makes any deal impossible.

The problem is intractable. And, as a Catholic/Greek orthodox Fiat driver (I hope that's OK with you, CROYFT?), I'd like to know why the surrounding Arab states have corralled the poor benighted Palestinian refugees into fetid, inhumane camps since 1948?

Anyone?
I'll bite.

For 66 years the Palestinian Arab refugee situation has been a political expression of Arab nationalist and religious grievances. It is a focus for the anger of neighbouring Arab nations. They leverage it in just about every negotiation with “the West”. They are also a convenient justification for perpetual terrorism. They facilitate the argument that terrorism is the result of an occupied and dislocated people acting out their victimhood. The surrounding Arab governments couldn't be happier keeping the refugee problem alive.
And knocking them off when it suits...

"Ayelet Shaked of the ultra-nationalist Jewish Home party called for the slaughter of Palestinian mothers who give birth to "little snakes."

"They have to die and their houses should be demolished so that they cannot bear any more terrorists," Shaked said, adding, "They are all our enemies and their blood should be on our hands. This also applies to the mothers of the dead terrorists.”

The remarks are considered as a call for genocide as she declared that all Palestinians are Israel's enemies and must be killed. "

Not that funnyscouser. Us Jews do have big noses but they're not that big, you should have gone with a "She'd get it but I'd have to be heavily armed and employ an iron shield" line...

Are you determined to go round in circles with the same stuff? Any death on either side is senseless but as has been said a 1000 times as long as Hamas keep firing rockets and using human shields this will go on.

The same stuff? Should we just ignore children being massacred, whole families being murdered?
Should we just accept hospitals being bombed, it's bad enough putting them there in the first place, but to then bomb them, to make sure you finish them off! WTF.

The IIDF told people to leave their homes and go the district that the hospital was in. Forgive my language but please fk off with your human shield propaganda bks. It's slaughter on a grand scale.
No you should not ignore it. You should demand Hamas stops lobbing missiles into Israel.

This is the nub isn't it, because although Hamas was elected to lead Gaza they are and always have been essentially a religiously led gang, a rag tag bunch of terrorists and general hoodlums. The Israeli government is not, it is a full democratic representation of the people of Israel. As such we expect different behaviors and different standards from the two, and by "we" I mean normal people. It's like an adult hitting a child and saying I'll stop hitting you when you stop hitting me.

Well said Fredclogs.
It does dismay me quite how nonchalantly some supporters of Israel post on here in defence of the indefensible. The same people, when faced with the evil that lurks in Israeli politics try to blame the news agency reporting their evils instead of accepting the truth, the same people who bring up other countries and people to try to deflect attention. It is always someone else's fault in their eyes. The day they realise that the cause is the fault of the Israeli expansionist actions and Hamas is just one of the effects, well I hope that day comes, they sure need that epiphany!

I agree. And the children need to be taken into foster care.

I do hate the Hamas supporters on here.

They spend all their time accusing Israel of crimes but ignore the fact the stated aim of Hamas is the destruction of Israel and the murder of every Jew.

If asked for a plan to stop the violence the limit to their ideas is Israel should stop retaliating.

They never accept that Hamas will never renounces violence.

It's been mentioned half a dozen times on this thread already, but as part of their new deal with Fatah, Hamas recognises Israel's right to exist.

That of course doesn't fit in with the Zionist narrative, so feel free to ignore the facts on the ground (again).

Ignoring the wider lack of either humanity or intelligence in your post, can you actually cite some evidence for the claim in bold, particularly the last part of it?

How do you reconcile that with comments from Israeli citizens who express the wish to see all Palestinians killed? Are they fair game?

Indeed terrorists and men of violence will always be present within any society, they're a small to tiny minority but they're here there and every where. Most people are just ordinary folks trying to get on with their lives in the most painless way possible. Throughout modern history there are many many examples of how governments and civil power structures can deal with threats from extremists and terrorists, how they can limit the damage and even accept into power brokerage with people who would once threaten them with violence, this is how a democracy works, it's how to make progress to peace.

Since 2005 the Israeli state has convinced itself it faces an existential threat by Hamas (it doesn't) and has been using collective punishment of innocent people because of the actions of a few extremists and terrorists, this is not only morally repugnant but on a pragmatic level also counter productive, as even an idiot like me could tell you it won't work either in the short term or the long term, I suspect Netanyahu knows this as well which makes me think that Israel has even less interest in making a peace than they suggest.

Which would explain why the Hamas lender says:

He was clearly just having a joke.
