Nice theory. At the moment the first line of defence are the Peshmerga (Muslim), PKK (Muslim with Socialist leanings) and the Lebanese (Muslim, with Druze and Christian elements). I agree with most of what you've said above.
I am prepared to see light and shade and accept that both Israelis and Palestinians should try harder to compromise and reach a peaceful settlement .
Whereas you appear to be so one sided in your comments that it is impossible to have a calm rational debate with you.
For instance you refer, disparagingly, to "random sky pixie".
Is it necessary to insult the followers of a religion ?
I feel inclined to take an agnostic viewpoint but would not care to insult those who peaceably disagreed with my view.

Come on. I've said that Hamas and the IDF are both murdering bds. There are huge wrongs on both sides. So much of the argument here has been taken up by committed supporters of Israel that I'm bound to take up the case of the opposing party. I have quoted several Jews I love and admire here and elsewhere (Albert Einstein and Emma Goldman spring to mind) but I can't find it in me to admire Begin and Meir.

Somewhere here there's a list of what I believe in. It includes a Jewish homeland in the Middle East.

If you bring the source of many of our woes into the argument (the Sky Fairy), don't expect me to ignore her.

The point about ultra orthodox is direct reply to your unbiased worry about extremism in Islam. Segregated buses are allowed to exist by the government of a 'civilized' country. Name another 'civilized' country where government in charge allows buses where women are forced to stand at the back. 21st century.

and before you go on about the closed borders/blockage or whatever you want to call it, please try and understand why it's like this, before it was put in place, the levels of suicide bombings, kidnapping, etc. were killing significant numbers of Israeli civilians, the solution was to shut the door, or are you suggesting that it's perfectly acceptable for a government to do nothing and allow its citizens to be slaughtered at random?

you then have to remember that although the border is closed, that's also not 100% accurate, thousands of tonnes of goods pass through the border checks every month, yes, very tightly screened (although some would argue not tight enough!), electricity is supplied from Israel, as is fuel oil/petrol/food/etc.

Look, I just don't understand the hysteria displayed in this thread by some who just seem incapable of processing and analysing the situation, you're coming across like simpletons who only see/believe what they want to.

I think the person that suggested the rockets that broke the ceasefire were to try and get attention back on Gaza from the ISIS atrocities in Iraq was probably closer to the truth, and if you think about that, just how sick do you have to be to pull that one off?
