Israel should come to an accommodation -- maybe the Clinton proposal -- ASAP: realistically, it's the best they'll get.

I don't think non states can breach UN Resolutions. Anyway, Israel has the record since 1968 for breaking them.

If you're saying should the UN hold Hamas as responsible for war crimes as Israel, of course. And for whatever reason, Hamas have started that ball rolling. I don't think, as I said earlier, that that's the best solution (I prefer the SA model) but it can be an issue on the table to be decided by both parties.

Normal General Assembly Resolutions yes. However the Security Council can also pass them. In 2009 one was passed on both of them to end that series of fighting. Hamas rejected it and here was the their response:

"Even though we are the main actors on the ground in Gaza, we were not consulted about this resolution and they have not taken into account our vision and the interests of our people."

The fighting continued.

Israel also rejected and ignored it.

I for one don't discount valid arguments/logic because it goes against my own views. No one is supporting Hamas violence here at all, but there are others who are supportive of Israeli violence and killing - says it all really. It's a classical case of deflection.

I have to say, generally, and there are a few exceptions, this is a very true thing.

Some on here have accused me of the same things they are throwing at you, scuffers and a few others have had the same. We are accused of not debating, childish comments, ill thought out posts and generally shouted down and accused of being idiots etc. I have been called a Zionist, pro Israeli, cannon fodder and god only knows how many rude names by the grown ups. And yet when we do post well thought out and rational arguments, sensible observations and good honest debates we are ignored.
