If the concrete factory was a much needed part of Gazas infrastructure (remember, Israel is responsible for tens of thousands of homeless Palestinians) then it's a wholly disproportionate response. Again.

A more targeted (and to my mind, more sensible) response would be to equip and train Fatah to take care of Hamas. I believe that's the type of approach the US are using in the Middle East to deal with Daesh.

It's not, to return to your analogy, that far removed from what we'd do if a terrorist group based in France attacked Dover.

So Hamas break the cease fire. Israel retaliate. Israel are wrong to do it because the rocket didn't kill anyone and only made a small hole in a field. Hamas do not run Gaza. Israel still occupy Gaza. Oh and all Israeli are Zionists.

Did I miss anything?

Israel has -- I state it as a historical fact -- taken two beatings: from the Arab Legion and from Hezbollah. In both cases, these were wars that Israel started. The first by reneging on the agreement about the West Bank, the second by invading Lebanon.

They're a formidably army, the IDF, extremely well equipped, not particularly well disciplined. But my guess is that if you took away the equipment they'd just be mundane.

But my comments about the military tactics were not directed at the IDF, Julie, but at you. Sort of sub Daesh.

Arab Legion? 1948 war. You remember, you were putting all their success down to British military know how, while ignoring the British military know how of the Palestinian Jews a few pages ago. Hezbollah took huge casualties, but forced an Israeli withdrawal, despite their technical superiority and leadership. No army fights in a complete political vacuum, even your nationalist buddies in Daesh.
