STOP

For the last fking time (and I don't swear much) the Scottish political situation is not xenophobic or racist or anti-English or anti-anything.

Seriously, get over that. Look at volumes 1 and 2 of the main thread if you still need educated about that.

Jeez.
You have to admit that there is a lot of anti English sentiment out there, though.
I'm sure a small minority are anti-English just as a small minority are anti-European or anti-American or anti-black or anti-Catholic or anti-ginger or anti-fat or anti-whatever. That's life.

But please be assured that the overwhelming majority of Scottish people (on both sides of the debate) are not anti-English.

Ooh, my finger is hovering over the 'report' button for your insinuation that a 20th century national socialist dictator's anti-semitism has anything to do with Scottish nationalism. Fancy a break in the sin bin??
I haven't done anything but state the obvious fact that Hitler hated Jews as well.

We know there is a long history between the SNP and Israel, it isn't a secret that they banned all publications from the Jewish state. but report away if you wish.

Edinburger - as you seem to be in a debating mood these days.

Do you accept that food will be more expensive in an independent Scotland? (Source: All the major supermarkets who say it will )
Yes, I do. Economies of scale. Many things would be more expensive in an independent Scotland.
What!!!!

Realism from a nationalist

Oh? I must be an Englishman to be dissagreeing with you. Scotsman here Im afraid.

p.s Scotland is in deficit with its block grant. Well over £10 billion a year. That doesnt include the billions it receives from the UK and EU for its oil, renewables and farming.

pps. Hitler was a Nationalist.

What does Hitler have to do with the price of cheese?

Play the ball, not the man.
No comment on this??

"Sir Ian Wood, the most influential figure in the Scottish oil industry, has accused Alex Salmond's government of exaggerating North Sea oil reserves by up to 60%.

Wood, the billionaire founder of the oil services firm Wood Group, said the first minister's administration had also overestimated North Sea oil income over the next five years by up to £2bn a year or £370 per person, raising serious questions about Salmond's public spending plans.

Revealing himself as an opponent of Scottish independence, Wood said North Sea oil reserves would begin to decline sharply within 15 years, raising questions about the future of the Scottish economy, jobs and its balance of payments if voters backed independence."
Nope, no comment on that. Both sides have tried to exagerate the oil industry to suit their cause. That's politics.
So a major contribution to your economy is yet another thing that you'll just hope will be OK?

Guy at work today said I should move down south as I wasn't a real scot as I was voting no

For a small minority I certainly see a lot of them

Remind me where the two previous prime ministers that did so much damage to the entire economic and social fabric of the entire country came from and which party they came from?
You have no proof that Tony Blair came from scotland

As that would be to deny the basic fact that he is a lizard and or undead reincarnation of the devil
Sadly for you it is well known that he spent some of his most important formative years at one of Scotland's most well known schools.

i.e. its your fault he turned out the way he did! biggrin

Besides, McBroon was in on the whole sorry saga from beginning to end was he not?

The Statistics we have seen on these threads of violent attacks against the English for no other reason than being English not only being on the rise but reaching alarming levels (Salmonds words not mine) show your statement to be very wrong indeed.

Of course I wouldn't report you because I'm not a snivelling little sod, but don't bring silly things like that into the debate.

Virtually every political party / country has something they're not proud of.

I'm English and live just outside Aberdeen and apart from ye olde banter at work I've had no problems at all, but the.... underbelly of the Yes campaign is frankly shameful, it makes me wonder how folk end up like that to be honest.

I have more confidence than you suggest, but political games on such an important asset won't impact my analysis of the situation.

Call it irrational xenophobia then if it makes you feel better. It seems to be a pretty standard reaction that the power hungry have always been able to rely on to manipulate the dim.

Really? Remind me of what the first declaration of Arbroath said and then explain why his fat fishiness chose to go there to create some spurious 2nd declaration last week if not to oh so unsubtly bring the first declaration to the forefront of the debate in some way.

Nationalists, most irritating and conniving people on the planet I think , mostly because they are so stupid as to think the rest of us can't see what they are trying to do - its really quite insulting! Then again, it further demonstrates that pigst is, generically, probably more intelligent!
