The greatest damage to any argument on any topic relating to Scotland is the presence of Alex Salmond. If it wasn’t for him and his ‘style’ I suspect that there might be a close vote on the topic. As it is I’ll be surprised if the YES vote is more than 40% tops.

Honestly I do think that all parts of the Union are better together than apart, in all cases. That said if you don’t want to be part of the union then the fluffy st goes with the bits you don’t like. As they say you can’t be half pregnant.

I'm in two minds. The sensible part of me wants a sound no for the good of both countries.

A yes though, would provide excellent comedy watching an independent Scotland turn into a huge brawl as capital fled, arguments flared over currency, passports, customs, telecomms, VAT and all the other minor details.

Tough choicesmile

I believe that Scotland has started down a path filled with hatred and blame along with a rise in sectarian violence, we have already seen a moron going down secterian lines in the main indpendence thread and hope that scumbag has been banned for good from this site.

We already have morons calling for all NO voters to be hung from lampposts as well as idiots calling for an armed up rising

I also belive that less and less government contracts will be heading to Scotland.

I think this has badly hurt scotlands future

I hope i am wrong.
Do you mean ViperPict by any chance? I believe he had the temerity to suggest that some Rangers fans were indeed bigots - and gave them pelters for being so. I was accused of being a bigot myself, for again having the temerity to suggest that more than a few Rangers fans were simply regurgitating the wishes on their Lodges, rather than having the capability of independent thought. (For the record, I personally know quite a few Hearts and Rangers fans that will be voting YES!!!)
Now we have Masonic and Orange lodges throwing their hats into the ring with BT - Perhaps a more fitting reference would be Bigoted Together (Since the Orange Lodge seem to be very proud indeed of their links to the KKK). I believe their joint tag-line is Celebrating our culture and tradition. So, celebrating lynching black people in the name of culture and tradition - how nice (NOT)!!!
Strange how you still seem to think stirring up sectarian issues is OK. Isn't that what you were banned for?

Are the "the rangers fans" you speak of that do not have the "capability of independent thought", those that you know to be voting Yes?

No....for the record - I was banned for avoiding a swear filter... As for stirring up sectarian issues, I believe your ire should be directed at The Orange Lodge for having links to the KKK. Ask yourself a question are you happy to be linked to the KKK? - if not, why aren't you doing your bit to do something about it? The ones I know with the capability of independent thought will be voting YES.

Are you trying to suggest no voters support the KKK?

No, for the record, it was for the sectarian rant you went on when I suggested some Yes voters in Lanarkshire were unpleasant people. As I hadn't even mentioned the Orange Order, this was a conclusion you jumped to all by yourself.

Still, at least it allowed me to use the phrase "Yer Maw" and still feel like the better person.

At least we're in agreement that The Orange Lodge/Order/Whatever are a bunch of racist scumbags and
teaming up with the KKK does not celebrate either culture or tradition - It shows them and their supporters up for being vile apologists of truly disgusting proportions.

Oops, nearly forgot - "Yer Maw" to the KKK!!!

Standard misdirection from a yes voter. Don't look at this massive white elephant in my corner...what about that tiny dwarf elephant in your corner!

I've only ever seen hate speech, racism, bigotry, vandalism and physical violence from the yes side. Its a hateful, ugly movement that the yes side refuses to acknowledge and deal with. This means it somehow becomes accepted...which is ridiculous.

This has done nothing but highlight just how divided Scotland is. Hardly solid ground for an Independence movement but then when have Independence campaigners ever thought about anyone else?

That's nice, but you still seem to be comparing no voters to the KKK?

Why do you do this? You did it in the main thread, and got banned for it. Now you're doing it here. Are you trying to get the thread locked? What is it about the Yes voters that so many cannot engage in any kind of meaningful debate without resorting to this kind of crap?
If you were being truly even handed you'd take a long hard look at the links between the SNP and the Nazis, or the links between parts of the Nationalist group and extreme left wing politics. But no, of course you don't do that. Instead it's smear, hint, innuendo and rofl smilies.

Utterly pathetic. I hope you don't get banned. People need to see you for the fool you are.

On a practical level should Scotland leave the UK , has there been any thought to how to divide up the assets ? I'm interested how you could divide up the armed forces, NHS etc. Seems to me it could be a 5-10 year task. I'm assuming nobody in government is planning for it or least will admit to it.

No problem. Next question is would this be better in the one thread?

There seems to be more than a hint of extremism and desperation in the Yes campaign that is apparently thought to appeal to the 'patriot' Scotsman. They know it's a one-shot game, that they have to do very well to get the mandate they need to get in. I don't believe the blatant anti-English rhetoric is endemic. All this just turns the 'glorious future' tone of a campaign into a rabidly negative racist rant. What a way to build a new start.

I think you're on the money. Even in the event of a "No" vote, the damage has been done. A portion of Scottish society has shown it's true colours. If a chunk of Scotland doesn't want to be part of the UK, then the country will be slowly dragged into the mire as foreign investment loses confidence, Cameron puts a stranglehold on Scottish interests etc.

The violence against "no" voters will get the "yes" ultra-nationalists exactly what they want, scaring people into being pro-union and allowing Scotland to be even more left behind in future years.
