What a load of steamy tinfoil hat wibble; I'll restrict myself to addressing the most obvious problem with this pile of st, the SU 25 has a service ceiling of 22k feet and would have a great deal of difficulty shooting down a 777 flying at ~40k feet.

Yeah but they altered wiki to prove it so it must be true.

Several problems with that photo it would seem,

1. The "Malaysia" logo is in the wrong place
2. The plane in the picture looked like a slightly altered version of the one that tops the search results if you Google "Boeing view from above" in Russian
3. It also happens to be a publicity photo of a Boeing 767, not the 777, which was shot down over Ukraine in July.
4. The fighter jet is not consistent with a Ukrainian Su-27
5. The shape of clouds in the satellite match those from a Google Earth photo of the area taken on 28 August 2012.

Furthermore, those who carried out a reverse image search on Google found that the photograph with the two planes was not so new or exclusive after all: it was first uploaded to a Russian forum on 15 October. Its source was claimed to be "enthusiasts from the Russian wikileaks".

The Russians have well and truly slipped back into 'Cold War Lying Mode'. It's becoming a bit of a habit.

Cannon-fire AND missiles ?.... from the side ?

This is like something North Korea would announce. Pathetic Mr Putin. Pathetic.

I don't know what are they trying to prove when looking at all the evidence it's safe to say it was shot with surface-to-air missile not AA one.

The biggest error in this photoshop is that the missile contrail goes to the fighter aircraft's wing. Since the missile is a few hundred feet in front of the fighter, the contrail should extend past the fighter to the point at which the missile was actually fired.

Bump!

There has been nothing in the media about this for ages

Has it been intentionally managed/allowed to quietly fade away?

This is what happens. Other news comes along, the culprits are out of the news for a bit, it will resurface when there is anything to add. Its how the news works. The other airliner pos up every now and then as they are still looking for it.

Unbelievably, or perhaps quite believably, the Russians are STILL saying they have no troops in Eastern Ukraine.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/01/21/us-ukrai...

Now there's fibbing, telling a porky, lying through your teeth, or there's this - maintaining a completely deluded mind set that should have been long gone with the end of the cold war.

Indeed, they will often admit it to you later... proudly. (like all good patriotic citizens doing their part)

They've clearly been born without the embarrassment chip then.

Denying something when the other person has no way of proving otherwise is one thing. But denying it when the internet is awash with footage of their armour, helicopters and troops well inside Ukraine, is sheer stupidity.

US mercenaries are and have been all over Ukraine. What is the difference? Both sides are playing the same game, with the exception that the Russians are on the defensive as they see the coup as a direct threat. It's all rather obvious to anyone that has even a modicum of an idea of how geopolitics work.

Did I hear correctly the other day on the radio that there are still something like 60 victims unaccounted for, and so presumably in a field somewhere? frown

The difference is clear, the Russians are breaking every international law in the book by trying to establish a land link between Russia and the already stolen Crimea by violating Ukraine's international border with debadged fully paid up Russian forces.

The mercs, in what small numbers they maybe, are trying, quite rightly, to defend it.

It's not the same game, it's the difference between right and wrong.
