I don't know if its the images or the fact the bodies and crash site seem to have been shown very little or zero respect in this accident but I feel more upset about this crash than any I can recall.
Me too, it's really got me.I read the following at work and I almost cried. I think it's because it's something every father and son can relate to.
“He was on his way to Perth. When we were looking at flights together, there was this one that stopped in Amsterdam and we thought it would be perfect,” he said. “He was diabetic so we thought it would be a good chance for him to do whatever he needed to do and maybe even go out and have a ride on the bikes and see Amsterdam. He was really looking forward to it. I took him to the airport at 3am myself, to fly to Amsterdam."
I don't think anyone is hiding from the horror of it, it is obvious that these people would have died a horrible death, seeing their bodies like that isn't needed to be able to imagine the severity of it. I think it's more we would like to help maintain the dignity of these poor souls, keeping the images and links off here helps. There was a Beeb journo who was pleading with a Ukrainian to zip up the bodybag that a young man was in for this very reason, not to hide from the horror of it.
interesting reading Putins wiki, he is worth 40 - 70 billion, which would make him the richest in Europe.
He also owns a dog and 'Putin first met Angela Merkel, he brought Koni along knowing that Merkel had a fear of dogs, having been bitten by one as a child.'
He is a very powerful man and this incident wont make much of an impact on him i think, i also think his strength of character will see most countries and people beneath him in his mind, which is probably why the main nations are tip toeing around him.

Earlier on I said Sky News are a terrible news outlet.
Well here you go.
One of their "reporters" going through a victim's belongings. What a scumbag.

This. I wonder how many of the (supposedly) outraged PHers above aren't quite bothered enough to stop giving Murdoch several hundred pounds a year?

What a surprise an American based 'research centre' comes up with a conclusion which matches US policy. It would be interesting to hear the opposite side of the argument.
As much as love to see half a page of you drivel FYI, Pew Research Center are generally respected international in the way they obtain valid surveys. They are also fully independent fiscally and generally politically.

If you want to blame someone, blame Russia for annexing a sovereign state against it's will .......... .
Do you speak of the will of the Crimean people? If you want to blame someone, blame Russia for annexing a sovereign state against it's will .......... .
Some Scottish want to leave us, some of the rest of us want them to stay.
Only the Scottish are getting the vote. If 5 million choose to leave but the remaining 50-odd million want to keep them, how shall we stop them? Which prevails, the will of the Scottish or the will of the English/Welsh/Northern Irish Union?
I cannot believe what I'm reading. Suddenly Russia are cooperating and helping.

"Russia is ready to provide any assistance necessary," Vitaly Churkin, Russia's UN envoy, has told the UN.
Churkin says that Russia fully supports an investigation to "shed light on the truth", and that "all elements of truth, including the lack boxes, should be provided to ICAO", the international aviation agency.
He says that "on the ground there must be access" and that international experts' security must be ensured, possibly with "some kind of humanitarian corridors". He adds that though it's good that "representatives of Donbass, Donetsk … and involved countries" are on the ground, "there needs to be a full compliment of experts at the crash site."
So what will the investigators find now... I suspect not a lot.Churkin says that Russia fully supports an investigation to "shed light on the truth", and that "all elements of truth, including the lack boxes, should be provided to ICAO", the international aviation agency.

This is like something out of an episode of 24. Except that the protagonists actually are negotiating with terrorists.
Black boxes have been handed over, and some sort of document has been signed.

Interesting quote from a Malaysian official.
"Malaysian would like to convey our sincere appreciation to His Excellency Mr. Borodai for obeying our request."
I hope they are saying what is required to get the black boxes, rather than sincerely saying those words.

You go and stand surrounded by bodies and body parts and see something that reminds you of your young daughter and see how you feel. Most if not all of those posting here have no any idea of what that must be like. The guy was at the point of tears, controlled himself and realised he was letting emotion get the better of him and what he was doing was inappropriate. Sounds like a human being to me.
Aye, leave the guy alone, I do not envy his job in this case.Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
