Mr Milliband says no return to tax and spend era.
Discussion
whomever is in power will fiddle the books and talk a good game.
since the election we have been borrowing more and more each year, household debt is down business debt is down and the government keep on borrowing.
still we may be turning a corner as recently tax revenues are rising whilst we are spending less. (there is of course an argument that UK PLC is a business and we could have invested more to bring those tax revenues even hire)
it amazes me constantly that people draw out there party lines along the same old tropes, at the end of the day each government will go with the prevailing economic tide. They all tax, they all borrow, they all spend and mostly not in the way the party like to portray itself.
look above we have had labour govts with low spending and tories with high and vice versa.
and of course the current & previous governments have had a period of economic stagnation to work around.
Of course there is an election next year so i'm sure we can all ignore the figures and shout tory scum/leftie scum at each other for another year.
we are all so easily sold something we want to hear.

Some tax and borrow more, some spend less. Some leave the country needing or close to needing IMF bailouts, some don't.
As to which is which...answers on a postcard to Denis Healey and Gordon Brown/Alistair Darling.
Condemns have deferred the serious spending cuts, or at least the effect of such cuts, to a presumably lab majority(unlikely), or a lib-lab fest 2015 (likely). This is very naughty for a con party, who traditionally have always made decisions, not always good, but have always had a go. How much influence the Lidems have had in holding back the cons is debatable. I don't believe lab have any ideas other than spend as much as possible.

Well done

and the tory plan other than cut as much as possible is?Meanwhile borrowing has fallen significantly since 2010.
Employment has risen significantly in recent years.
Whatever the plan is, I think it was called Plan A, it's working.

Plan A seemed to be ride it out, our economy has been stagnant.Meanwhile borrowing has fallen significantly since 2010.

things are on the turn, but not because of policies implemented by the govt, you or i could have sat in number 11 and just waited for the financial markets to sort themselves out.
would have been the same no mater who was in power and it will be the same after next years election. Political parties are still in love with the city no mater what they say.

As a single, childless man on a six-figure salary, if Labour form the next government and I pay the same or less percentage of my money in tax by the end of his administration I hereby declare that I will eat one of Mr Milliband's freshly cooked up turds.
The man is cretinous beyond belief. I loathe him.

Rubbish. Labour saw absolutely nothing wrong with the way they were running the economy and lambasted Osborne at every turn for every decision he made, citing that we should spent our way out of the recession.things are on the turn, but not because of policies implemented by the govt, you or i could have sat in number 11 and just waited for the financial markets to sort themselves out.

They were wrong, Osborne was right. When was the last time that
I cannot believe for a second that Labour wouldn't have continued spending with abandon and put us in a worse position than we are now.
