Tesco - another fail

Small rant re Tesco though it may be one unique to the Isle of Man store - to compare with other branches would require a 4 hour ferry trip each way!
The Tesco here is stupidly busy due to a lack of decent competition what with no Asda, Morrisons, Aldi or Lidl and the aisles stupidly narrow (2 trolleys width) and parking possible if you want to take a packed lunch for the walk to the store. This doesn't faze me (chiefly because I avoid the store like the plague) but it does faze me on the rare occasions when my Mum wants to go. In a wheelchair.
Every other large store on the rock provides a wheelchair which saves me cramming hers into the Puma (and a godsend if I'm also transporting the dogs as part of the tour) and these are normally kept by a service desk and you can just take them. Oh no, Tesco has to be awkward. You have to ask for one, which is fine if there was an actual customer service desk. In fact you have to queue at the ciggy/lottery kiosk for 10 minutes while the 1 person serving goes about their business. All this time me, a (mostly) able bodied person has been parked in a disabled space - if you can find one which are a good way from the store - and my passenger stuck in said car.
Once we eventually get going and manage to get a few things/give up we head to the till. Meanwhile I can best describe the actual shopping experience as like Hampton Court Maze but crammed with petulant (and probably as stressed as me, in fairness) kids and zombies with shopping trolleys all the while finding half the stuff needed.
The till, ah yes. Normally this isn't an issue as such and the number of folk waiting was only in single figures this time so all seemed well until my Mum asked for cashback. Not a halfshaft for a Triumph Herald or jar of picklenut and Wallberry sauce. Cashback? Oh. I don't know how to... Hang on. Now the problem really started.
Tesco strike again.
Card machines are, wherever you go, placed at the front of the counter or near the customer. Oh no, not in Tesco. It's fixed, 2 foot above the centre of where the scanned items go, nigh on impossible for a disabled person to reach and, like I say, fixed. To do this once is a pain but in this instance she was asked to insert/ take out the card 4 times as the clueless wench battered buttons behind the till. On the 4th attempt I had to help my Mum out of her chair to get to the damned thing.
Eventually we trudged out, my Mum paranoid that she'd been charged twice (I told her that was surely not possible without re-scanning everything) and made our way to the far side of the car park as all the disabled spaces were taken; I returned the chair and somewhat shattered departed, hopefully for the last time.

Buy the loaf on Monday and enjoy a sandwich. Tuesday thin slice and top it with butter and jam. Wednesday has to be a toast day, on Thursday make a Summer pudding. This leaves Friday to make some lovely Bread Pudding, Saturday feed the birds and Sunday have a bread free day. Waste not want not!!
