International Boxing Association (IBA) mistake said she's professional kick boxer
David Francis chairman Welsh Amateur Boxing Association said:
Hindsight is a wonderful thing and perhaps checks should be made but we don't have the resources

What should she do next?

Maybe I'm reading it wrong but if this bit is true:

article said:
An AIBA spokesman said: "Ashley Brace had previously participated in the AIBA Women's World Championships in Barbados in 2010. However, she subsequently decided to compete in professional kickboxing from 2011 until 2013. She has also listed all of the kick boxing competitions she has competed in on her Facebook profile."
...then I don't see the issue?

So she slipped through the net and is now complaining about having the rules enforced? Yes it sucks, but reading that^, it seems she was indeed a pro kickboxer, and if the Commonwealth Games say that means she's out, then she's out.

I was thinking the same thing. Did she or did she not compete in professional kick boxing tournaments?

If she did (which the authorities seem to think based on tournaments she has listed on her own Facebook page) - then she is rightly denied entry.

Interestingly - her Facebook page appears to be down scratchchin

yes centurian carefully quoted the bit she thinks is wrong and led to the disqualification, which no-one has any staff to review

Quoter her piece that says she used to be an amateur kick boxer when young, then became a boxer.

She's not denying participating in kick-boxing competitions, she's denying being a professional.

Are kick-boxing championships "open"?

Doing a bit of google sleuthing - many pages relating to her appear to be down at the moment - but google cache has thrown up an interesting page:

http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cac...

Awards: "WKA Pro AM European Champion K1"

Could this be the competition they have an issue with?

Well without being au fait with the kickboxing world I couldn't say whether or not those competitions she competed in as a kickboxer mean she has competed professionally. Clearly someone else does think that.

Unless she can prove that this:

An AIBA spokesman said: "Ashley Brace had previously participated in the AIBA Women's World Championships in Barbados in 2010. However, she subsequently decided to compete in professional kickboxing from 2011 until 2013. She has also listed all of the kick boxing competitions she has competed in on her Facebook profile."

...is completely wrong, as in at no point was she competing as a professional, I don't see that there's much she can do. If that^ IS wrong then fair enough, but if it's not, it's smacks a little bit of "trying to slip through the net and hope no-one notices".

I am au fait with the kickboxing world.

Pro Kickboxing is pretty much non existent for men, let alone girls.

This will be about politics…as it always is in boxing.

It looks like she did win an award "WKA Pro AM European Champion K1"

Looking at the WKA website - Pro AM stands for Professional/Amateur.

If she fought in this competition - then it's understandable why they suspect she may have fought as a pro. Unless she can provide evidence that she was entered as an amateur - I guess it's the only stance they can take.

Any pro could simply claim the fought as an amateur in order to be gain eligibility for the commonwealth games - despite holding what looks like a professional award.

It's bks though. The WKA is a joke and I guarantee all she will have won is a bag of smarties or something. Pro really just means fighting without head guards.

This is definitely political.
