I don't agree with what David Ward said (targeting civilians is wrong, full stop) however Nadhim Zahawi, the Tory MP, was on Newsnight earlier and said he's reported Ward to the Police over the tweet because it incites violence. The Police? What the fk! What a waste of their time.

The offending tweet:

Ward drew criticism after a tweet appeared on his feed saying: "The big question is - if I lived in #Gaza would I fire a rocket? - probably yes." He added: "Ich bin ein #palestinian – the west must make up its mind – which side is it on?"

I wonder what Ward would do if he was Israeli?

Didn't Cherie Blair say much the same years ago when her hubby was the captain of the political sofa at Number 10?

I'm just imagining Cherie Blair doing the Sally Bercow Tweet 'It seems you have to be a lawyer to use Twitter these days'.

Should the West pick a side?

I'm happy to let them duke it out whilst keeping them at arms length.

Those two people seem to inherently hate each other and being between them isn't a place I want to be.

tttish thing to say, but surely reporting this would only be wasting police time.

I wonder if they'll report the IDF to the police as well, for balance?

(the intended answer apparently being 'bomb schools and hospitals', and not 'aim a bit lower')

Ward's office is about 3 miles from my house, well within Bradford. He's being a politician, speaking out in support of views that will be shared by his potential voters.

And whilst I think his manner was crude, he makes some good points.

I agree wholeheartedly, whilst the Palestinians are hardly saints, Israel is a bully of a nation for which I have little time and less sympathy.

Quite. Faults on both sides, but I know which bully has the bigger stick and controls the next US election.

From Yes Minister:
Hacker: Britain should not support law and justice?
Humphrey: Of course we should. We just shouldn't let it affect our foreign policy, that's all.
Hacker: We must fight for the weak against the strong.
Humphrey: Then send troops to Afghanistan to fight the Russians.
Hacker: The Russians are too strong.

The police should introduce a £30 handling fee for people complaining about what someone has said on the internet.

At face value that tweet is thick as fk. .
The letter makes perfect sense, he needs to be careful.

The Police should investigate him.
