Basically there are flyers around Ohio advertising a festival for straight white guys (beer to be available but no illegal drugs ) and the usual types are claiming it's an anti-gay / black / (insert persecuted group here),
Appears to be a joke, but has caused some upset

There's a similar event in Brighton next weekend,

This shows up the difference between majority groups and minorities. It also tells all you need to know about the hypocrisy of the chattering class activist liberals that seem to hold so much disproportionate sway.
The majority groups don't see an issue and are passive. The minorities have a cause and go all shouty, getting worked up about bigotry when in fact traditional definitions of that term throw it back at them.

Er, ok. The majority groups don't see an issue and are passive. The minorities have a cause and go all shouty, getting worked up about bigotry when in fact traditional definitions of that term throw it back at them.

Someone should organise an alterative to the Nottingham Carnival.
Do you think the government would pay.
Simple criteria
Massive inconvenience for locals.
Using all police, and local authority resources
Loads of crime illegal drugs etc
I wonder if you mean the Notting Hill Carnival? Do you think the government would pay.

Erm - who is this "us". I haven't traded in "blacks" at all - let alone done it for centuries.......perhaps you are suggesting that me and others on here are somehow culpable for deeds carried out by long dead white people who happened to reside in a similar area of land we now occupy.......'the sins of the father' and all that.
Not sure I follow that line of reasoning.

You must have done, because you're white, you racist slave trader!......perhaps you are suggesting that me and others on here are somehow culpable for deeds carried out by long dead white people who happened to reside in a similar area of land we now occupy.......'the sins of the father' and all that.

Oh, wait, hang on a minute...

Quite right. When will there be someone who stands up for the heterosexual adult white middle class male living in a prosperous and safe country? We demand equality! The majority groups don't see an issue and are passive. I don't think Fotic was accusing you (or any other person alive) of that particular deed.........perhaps you are suggesting that me and others on here are somehow culpable for deeds carried out by long dead white people who happened to reside in a similar area of land we now occupy.......'the sins of the father' and all that.

Whilst clearly facetious in tone - you do highlight the irony somewhat."You can't hold an event for straight white guys - because straight white guys don't suffer from inequality"

Yeh I got that it wasn't a direct or personal accusation - my reply was intended to be sarcastic. However - the implication is still there that 'we' are still somehow responsible.

I don't think there is any such implication.
The UK shipped over a load of people from lots of places. They want to celebrate some of that culture (among other things) so why would anyone stop them? (I'm not suggesting that this is your position on it). I suppose it's a bit like Paddys Day.

I think moonhawk knows full well that it wasn't implying anything of the like and is merely trying to smear my post.
As a country, we're solely responsible for our diverse culture and to then try and suppress that culture by whining about festivals and the like is hypocritical and ignorant.

Inequality can never be a one way street. "Suffer" may be put forward as one half of the equation, balanced by "benefit" on the other side, but where is the "benefit" to straight people if gays are "suffering"? There is no matching benefit.Ergo, there should be similar events to celebrate "straightness".
