Punnery aside, I'm mildly impressed by his determination.

Shame it hasn't done the trick but I admire his grit and hope he gets a resolution.
Honestly I'm not.

He's a fricking idiot.

I can relate to the pain he is feeling after a bike crash that amongst other injuries left me with a brachial plexus injury and a very weak left arm - now totally resolved.

What hasn't resolved is nerve pain in my left arm and leg which is like an electric current is being passed through the muscles enough to make them "fizz" a bit. I can make this feeling lessen by stretching the limbs out but it will always be there.

The point is that chopping off my arm or leg isn't going to stop it though as the nerve damage is near the spinal cord not in the limb!!!

will he be able to claim disability allowance if its self inflicted?

FFS. He could easily have dealt with the pain using pain management techniques.

Is there any need for the webpage to finish:

"Father-builds-guillotine-chops-hand-bid-end-years-agony-accident-left-pain-doctors-did-not-help-hurts.html"?

Seems a bit excessive smile

Engineering ingenuity, you've got to hand it to him.
On the other hand it seems a bit extreme.
I see what you did there

I wonder if it hurt more than the nerve pain?

Either way, you have to be mental to do something like that to yourself unless its a 'life or death' type situation.

Saw the title and thought he'd chopped the other one off, this story is dated March 2014.

My mate Paddy did exactly the same think but threw himself onto the fire to prevent reattachment.
