Sadly not, I often view some countries as if they're hundreds of years behind us, it can seem that way when we used to burn people over religion back then and they do now, perhaps that means in a couple of hundred years they'll be where we're at now?
The sooner religion dies out the better IMHO, more damage than good is/has been caused by religion.

I don't think the murder of the women in Pakistan had much to do with oil. Nor the crusades, the jihads and more. Mind you, I accept the logical conclusion of your post in that religion is just politics with a higher percentage of the men dressing up as women.

Whilst there is every reason to suppose that bad things will still happen if we didn't have religion, I think it is the same as suggesting that people will still die of illnesses if there were no cigarettes.

I think the population of Cambodia or Stalinist Russia may disagree with you. Looking through history religion is very rarely the sole cause for a wart, but very often a convenient excuse. Want to take over the territory of another country? The fact they were of a different religion is an ideal justification
