I'm on the settee in a fleece with a blanket on me.

I'm not lighting the fire during the day in August. This tool who said hottest august ever. Is he still in employment?
He's working the new stats for MMGW.

Rubbish, never said anything of the sort.

NI recorded a record minimum, that's all, and that wasn't anywhere near the UK record minimum for August.

Air frosts in August in the UK are not that rare.

I just rewatched it that's what he said. NI (Katesbridge) was -1.9c last night.
I'm only repeating what he said that we 'could' be heading for the coldest August o/r.
-4.5C is some way to go, but it's hardly 'warming' is it? hehe

Oh, a by the way, what's rubbish is the thread title!

No argument there!

Edit to add, the CET according to netweather (won't be far off Met) so far this August is 15.8C and the nights are warming up again so it's unlikely to drop further, the range historically is 12.9C - 19.2C, and provisional ranking out of 355 years of data would be about 200 coldest! You'd only have to go back to 2010 to find a significantly colder year, so unless I've misread something, this August is only ever going to be decidedly average.

I agree. I'm only relaying the Beeb 'prediction'. That's a word I keep hearing now on Sky... here is 'our' weather 'prediction' (not forecast). I also hear regularly now (Sky again) '...this is what we 'think' the weather will be tomorrow.'

The cocksure attitude seems to be leaving. Good.

And to end on another what's rubbish is tomorrow's Bank Hol Monday weather. Typical. Bloody wet!

Only one thing works.
Rain rain go away, come again another... byebye

Just back from the US today and the heat there in the past week in places has been scorchio.

Haven't researched it, but it may be the jet stream and winds in the north Atlantic / Caribbean are playing funny games this month. As is often the case when both sides of the pond have polar-opposite weather.
