Particularly like this bit!
"And I have also discussed the police response to this growing threat of extremism with the Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe. The position is clear. If people are walking around with Isil flags or trying to recruit people to their terrorist cause, they will be arrested and their materials will be seized. We are a tolerant people, but no tolerance should allow the room for this sort of poisonous extremism in our country."
Looks like those scumbags on Oxford street will be getting their collars felt next time they give it a try
Also interesting comment piece in the Grauniad on combating radicalisation.

yeah, right. I'll believe when I see it - there's bound to be some scum-bag appologiest who'll scream 'uman rites [sic] and we'll retreat so fast it'll make your eyes rattle http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleea...

A war in a galaxy far far away ...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntXbSrH0egc&fe...
It reminds me of Northern Ireland in the 1970's crossed with Stalingrad in 1940's. Worst civil war in a long time. A lot worse than what is going on here.
If you watch it all to the end (and it is really worth watching) who are the goodies and baddies and what is the current state of the country 12 years on?
You cannot win a civil war by arms alone. You need to end with compassion.
The Americans showed us this fact about 150 years back.

Interesting analysis from Dr. North on the article here. http://www.eureferendum.com/blogview.aspx?blogno=8....http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleea...

Basically summarised as "now the Iraquis and Kurds are starting to push ISIS back, CMD is making hawkish noises so that later he can claim to have helped sort it out".

All for the benefit of a couple of lines at the end where he sticks the knife into Cameron which as we all know (because he's an unabashed politico blogging on a partisan website) was the only purpose to the exercise.
I am correct?

Iraq & Kurdistan will soon be separate countries, and will probably fight each other once they have finished off the Sunni IS.TheRealFingers99 said:

Why should they fight each other? Ask me in 2 years time Oil & religion are safe enough reasons for the moment. Do you they will agree to be a united Iraq?

I don't see a united Iraq long term. The Kurds want their own state. They've had a form of independence for the last 20 odd years. I'd think the rest of Iraq will fracture, too.
ISIS have their own view: http://www.algemeiner.com/2014/08/18/islamic-state...
