PS: under what legal power were your notes "seized" from you? You whole story reeks of BS.
I dont know, oddly when you are sitting in a war zone and that happens finding a lawyer to call is not high on the list.As usual the Mighty BV has spoken, its BS because you wont pick up the phone and it is easier for you to revert to type then maybe learn that the world does not always function within your view of it.
This time you cant play the game the way you would choose as these are personal experiences that can be verified by contemporaneous information, like go on the Planes thread and check the photos out I have posted up on there you will find Armed A 10 aircraft at a base in Saudi (King Fahd) taken at the time of the first D notice, (as close to the custard test as one can get on something like this).
I can do similar with my location and timings on the second incident as well
The offer stands PM me contact details with a number and I am happy to discuss the full details off board.

He has offered you his phone number, it's time for you to accept the offer....
Or are you scared you'll be wrong?
No, it's not, and no, I'm not. It's not for Guam to dictate terms of debate. He raised the issue here on the Forum. I have asked him some questions that he declines to answer. He doesn't have to answer them - this is just a Forum - but I don't have to have phone calls with someone I don't know about something said in an internet chattering session. Or are you scared you'll be wrong?

btw I sometimes play in pubs and when I do our local PRS rep comes, spot-checks my set-list against the songs I have published with them and I get 89 quid each again.
Sorry to drag this up again, but where does that £89 come from? Is it taken from the pub's PRS license somehow? In which case I'm wondering how expensive a license is. Let's say a normal covers band turns up and plays ten songs, someone somewhere will be getting roughly £89 for each of those songs, so a total of £890 for the evening. I imagine the covers band doesn't pay it - most don't get anywhere near that for playing. Does all that work on hoping the PRS rep doesn't come to the pub that night?droopsnoot said:

Aiui, all PRS licensees pay into a pot, payments comes out of that, not individual establishments. Justayellowbadge said:

For exhibitions we have had to check if promotional videos shown on stands contain non public domain music and if so ensure PRS is in place, but not for the particular track/tracks.
However, my knowledge is limited to recorded music in the main, it may well be different for live. DJ's don't need, to my knowledge, to submit a playlist, for example, so it would surprise me if it goes down to individual pieces. The fee structure for live and DJs may well be different.
Someone whose exposure is more than passingly peripheral should be able to answer better than my narrowly informed guesses!

I was told that if a pub/cub/shop wants to play music from a local band, or indeed a local school, in their premises they have to pay royalties as well. This was a moan from a shopkeeper who, he said, had been 'threatened by the royalties Mafia'. He refused to make a complaint so I didn't bother to check this assertion.
I wonder if you know whether this is correct.
If a pub/shop/club wants to play music written by a local band and not published, it can do so without a PRS licence. If the band is performing covers, they do.I wonder if you know whether this is correct.

No, covers bands don't pay royalties, the PRS pays the publisher the royalty from the venues' entertainment license fees.Royalties are payed to a recording artist who performs hiw own work in public.
eta: any work not registered with PRS, no royalty is due. Or in the case of a bigtime tribute act eg, Brit Floyd, a percentage of ticket sales is usually agreed on with the writers.

Very apt Ex
What's your take on all this?D'you think it's a possibility that celebs are being scapegoated to take our attention from the politicians that are being outed?
Do you think it's possible that succesive governments may have conspired to keep things secret?
What about the 'power' wielded by Savile for example? Seems a lot of people knew who were scared to say anything.
Just curious, I know you're a prolific poster.
Cliff obviously we can't say yet.
One thing I read about Cliff is that he objected to his home being searched without notifying him. Is it normal to notify a suspect, given that it then gives them warning so that they can dispose of evidence? Obviously they don't do this in drugs cases.
