Finally some sense from them.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-45183421
Or perhaps they were just frightened of being seen wasting even more licence fee money.
Although I notice they haven't stopped banging on about how this is now a major blow for press/media freedom.
If I was the BBC I would have appealed because from their point of view it does harm press freedom and by not appealing this case it will be very difficult to go back to a pre Cliff Richard world.
They have clearly bottled it on money wasting grounds.
My personal view is that I agree with the courts view but on the other hand I can see why the BBC would want to appeal.
One potential benefit is that the court of Appeal may also have provided more guidance - whereas now it may take years for a similar case to get that far.

Maybe they or you should start a crowdfunding page to raise cash to appeal then? Or fund it personally? They have clearly bottled it on money wasting grounds.

It would be interesting to see how keen the characters involved would be if the host was from their own pockets and not the taxpayer.
As for ‘bottling it’, hopefully a sense of responsibility for taxpayers cash prevailed, though I doubt it. Maybe someone had a quiet word?
