Are we ready for a grown up conversation?
Why don't we take a look at modern history. We only have to go back say, 500 years or so.
The systematic destruction of entire countries and continents at the hand of one race.
This isn't a problem that started overnight and therefore cannot be solved overnight.

Cannot clap with one hand, needs moderation/adaptation on all sides.
This problem isn't specific to America. I wonder if you've ever been racially discrimated against to the point it made your life difficult or prevented you from getting on.
We are all discriminated against day in, day out - occupational hazard of being an "intelligent/educated" human being. I don't like Yankee dudes

Racism isn't a problem caused by history, its a problem caused by small minded stupidity and an inability of people to take accountability for their self inflicted failings. Why don't we take a look at modern history. We only have to go back say, 500 years or so.

We can agree on that, I was being generous about the 5 decades, and when time was near I was going to suggest another 5 decades... sort of kicking the can down the road to peace and harmony - some optimism is necessary.supersingle said:
I do know that if I were black I would resent the soft racism of being held to lower standards and reduced expectations by patronising, rich, white, American liberals.
Do you really think you know what you would do if you were black? What about if you were a woman? Or homosexual? Or 100 years old? LucreLout said:

Except when you've been left at a grave disadvantage through the course of history. Some make it, some don't. That isn't specific to any one race.

Eventually ingrained racism in whites (as lets face it, that is the problem) will eventually die out.

Being at a grave disadvantage happens to more white people on Britain than it does to all other races combined, but very few would seriously suggest that it is all because of the windrush. Some make it, some don't. That isn't specific to any one race.

You must be fking joking!!
I've been on the receiving end of racism from just about every ethnic minority in Britain at one time or another, save for the Chinese.
Being white of course, it can't have been actual racism as only us whiteys do that. Maybe the violence wasn't real either.
Why don't you ever see the Chinese rioting and looting and playing the race card? Genuine question.I've been on the receiving end of racism from just about every ethnic minority in Britain at one time or another, save for the Chinese.

The way I see things:
19th and 20th century migrants to the USA left the disadvantages of their communities behind and started afresh, yes some brought their bad ways with them but on the whole they flourished.
The predominantly black communities pretty much traces their lineage back to slavery, from day one their existence in the Americas was one of emancipation and of oppression, being subject to official discrimination and apartheid right through to the middle of the 20th century. This experience has formed the psyche of those communities, the culture in those communities still bears the scars of history. Black American communities do largely exist in the states and areas with the least prospects, largely where the industry that gave them (forced) work has gone and not really been replaced with anything meaningful that could support whole communities. Black Americans do best when they are not held back by the negative culture that has prevailed in their communities.

How come UK has the same problems WITHOUT the history you set out?I'm sick to the teeth of people trying to use events of 200 years ago to justify their under-achievement, while other groups just get down and get on with it.
