Not to be cruel but, since we know they're from Belgium will we be sending them back and let them sort out where they're from?

Place your bets....

They must have the most pointless helpline.
Who on earth is going to call.
I suppose 1 call could be
'Hi I'm a people trafficker and I seem to mislaid some clients.'
Or 'Hi I have 20 members of my family coming in and they are illegal immigrants.'

That's the stuff of nightmares, being trapped in a shipping container.

Totally pointless as well as they were obviously in safe countries already.

Such is the pull of a perceived wonderful life in the UK, seems many don't regard any other EU country as being their goal and will risk it.

Very much this.^^^

Belgian customs were responsible for allowing them onto that container ship.

For what reason do they sneak in to the UK for when already in continental Europe? , I'd rather mooch around France / Germany / Holland etc than come to Britain

Because we're a soft touch and they'll have lots of their friends and family here already.

The only humane approach to my mind is to permanently deny migrants benefits, people are constantly risking their lives to get here as they know they will be generally taken care of.

Its rare I agree with French politicians but several have made the very same point previously IIRC.
do illegal migrants get benefits?

What benefits do illegal migrants even get?

Of course migrants from the EU get the same as us, asylum seekers also get some level of government help but other than NHS treatment should they break a leg or collapse in the street I don't think economic migrants who come here illegally from Asia, Africa etc get anything.

We need to start enforcing the laws we already have. For starters, lets crack down on employers who hire these people. And then landlords who allow half a dozen+ men to live in their 1 or 2 bedroom properties. And of course the people who rent out their sheds etc etc.

Sometimes I wonder if there is some kind of unwritten rule that the authorities won't crack down on illegal immigration because 1 - they can't be bothered and 2 - the black economy is worth so much that they just let it be. Or perhaps the problem is so big now that they just don't have the resources.

I don't know where they've come from originally, but I know it won't be a bleak as Tilbury.

It's really getting to be a problem this. Since the French began clearing the camps the illegals have been getting desperate, and desperate people are dangerous people.

There's an e petition doing the rounds for increased security around ports. It's been getting really nasty around Calais in particular.

I do hope we sort them all out with houses and benefits.

My god they way they reported this on the news it was like oh my god how awful for them , hope they are OK.

Send 'em back!

We are such a soft touch!

Is everybody else really annoyed with what's happening in this country?

We are a laughing stock!

It's never nice to hear someone has died and hope everyone else makes a full recovery, BUT I do hope each person is deported swiftly. The sooner the message gets out to illegal immigrants this is an unsuccessful way to get in our country and that all you achieve is spending a large sum of money on the people smuggling gangs the better

So you don't think it's a little unpleasant to be stuck in a container without food or water for days?
