Fundamental difficulty in estimating geomorphological events. Timeframes are really not related to humans. I think the rucks that the airlines caused last time has seriously altered the ante n the CAA actually ordering flight cancellations this time.

Unless the pumice in the winds does get seriously high in which case as before flight travel in affected countres will be zilch. We found the reality was that all other forms of transport to the UK from Italy were just overbooked and unaffordable. Coud mean we are there until May next year. Ho hum, its an ill wind.........

So this is all happening beneath half a kilometre of ice. That's going to be a lot of water to deal with if she blows.

Wasn't that a feature of the Krakatoa event, where the ceiling of the magma chamber collapsed letting in gazillions of gallons of seawater?

Just flown out of Heathrow this evening due to fly back Friday. Nobody appeared massively bothered at Heathrow. If I can't fly back I'll be stuck in Italy for the weekend. With the pool. Mountains. 30 degrees. No wife. On expenses. Damn smile

With you all the way, DJRC. We pass this way but once IMO. if you do not experience the gamut of human emotions and grab every opportunity to try every human activity at least once then you miss out on life IMO. We are a long time dead!

I was notorious for being out of control throuhout my life and thoroughly enjoying every minute of the experience, all of my working life. I benefitted hugely from the experiences. Every Doctor said "You cannot go on like this, it will kill you" to which I said bullocks in the nicest possible way ? Here I am somewhat battered and bruised and reliant upon medical science to keep me going. But I am still here and I would have exactly the same approach were I to love again. I have had a wonderful life.

I would not change my approach in any way because the successes I had, could not have been achieved by me in any other way. I was always driven by my ego and desires. I still am but whilst the spirit is still there the flesh has weakened. Take every opportunity in life and experience all the activities of life as much as you car. Being a volupturian that is my Mantra.

Some might say that such an approach is selfish. It worked for me!

That some would include my wife who regards me as the most selfish person she has ever met. But as I've just ordered her a new E class she can foxtrot Oscar ! She does have some point though I leave her in the UK as I swan around Europe.
