What is the actual involvement of the Arab nation in these strikes ? Anything other than jets dropping bombs is a pointless waste of tokenism.
I think the UK is waiting for the beheading video to be released before it to joins in with a couple of jets of it own tokenism, but with the full consequences.
Well Jordan confirmed their jets took part in strikes. I doubt the rest have....yet.
I was wrong.....from the BBC

Saudi Arabia flew Tornadoes, and possibly Typhoons, from bases in northern Saudi Arabia and Jordan
The United Arab Emirates flew fighters
Bahrain flew three fighters
Jordan flew fighters

Providing fighter cover/escort , or bombing ? For me it's a big difference.

Bahrain New Agency said:
"A group of fighter jets from the Royal Bahrain Air Force carried out earlier this morning... air strikes against a number of selected targets of terrorist groups and organisations, and destroyed them". It quoted an "authorised source" at the Bahrain defence force headquarters.

Surely someone, somewhere, at the top of the Daesh, must be questioning their strategy when it's patently bloody obvious that with the exception of a few nutters here and there, they have little to no allies and are pissing off just about everyone.

I mean f*ck me, when you've got the likes of Hezbollah, Iran, the US and the Saudis all gunning for you, surely you must twig that whatever you're doing ain't working?!

something is so not right there, they have everybody against them and they still don't give up territory (or not significantly), there MUST be someone stronger behind them with all the logistics and intel, a simple group of nutjobs can't do that, no way

One thought. Only a thought. There are Christians and Moslems (possibly Jews, too) who believe that the Kingdom of Heaven will come after the End of Days -- Armageddon.

Therefore, it is saintly to do all you can to provoke the End of Days. Piss everyone off enough and you might, just, bring it off. If not, you might get your Caliphate and take it from there.

"Islamist terrorists are out to “kill and maim” UK citizens, David Cameron said on Tuesday, as he disclosed that a number of Isil terrorism plots have been foiled.

The Prime Minister said Britain cannot “opt out” of the fight against the extremists as he prepares to authorise air strikes in northern Iraq."

It still gets my goat that the political / journalistic spin is emphasising 'Islamist'. When the Provo's attacked Hyde Park / Bishopsgate / Manchester / Birmingham etc. etc. did we hear of 'the Catholic extremists'? Not that I recall. The press and politicians need to drop the references to Islam. It's causing unnecessary extra friction, and adding fuel to these nutter's fire.

Indicative of the broad scope of the problem and of the failure on the part of the government to consider what, precisely, it is that they wish to fight; at what point do we define the transition from Islam to extremism?

Do we ignore the fact that this is a religion which is generally, diametrically opposed to some of the most basic human rights - equality and tolerance, for women, homosexuals and other religions - that our broader society holds dear?

Then perhaps we should be allowed to carry firearms concealed to protect ourselves.

give it a few beheadings and a few more attempted ones and this could well become an issue frown

Well, despite Lee Rigby's murder the military don't go armed when in civvies so you'll forgive me not stting myself quite yet. I would bet that should the population be allowed to go armed more people would be shot by accident than beheaded by nutters.

I do wonder why our great security services couldn't stop the Woolwich attack, or might not even have known about it till it happened. Are they now saying that they are now on the ball and able to repel all IS attacks to this country? Really?

I suspect the actual threat to the UK is overstated as such.

Just to play devil's advocate, those aussie cops may have bought the farm if they weren't armed.

Yep. But allowing untrained MoPs to have guns because of a vague and non-specific threat from a tiny minority is daft. How many people are likely to get shot for looking a bit funny? Even the security services and police make mistakes and shoot the wrong people on occasion.
