Not much chat on this, but some reports say ISIS fighters are just a few km from Baghdad's western city edge, yet the UK's token force of jets is yet to drop a bomb.
Bombed earlier today by the US. First, ISIS seem to have become very aware that bigger aggregations of troops, armour, etc. provide very easy targets for aircraft.
Second, the guy on Sky today was suggesting that that may have been a diversion, to draw attention away from a possible break-through to the Turkish boarder (Suruc, Kobane, etc.) which will give them access to more arms, recruits, etc.

Turkey? That would really be giving the wasp's nest a smack with a stick.
Oh, they'll not invade. But it'll give them a great way of getting weapons and troups in, many Turks seem fairly sympathetic to ISIS (hence, you guess, the easy leakeage of western jihadis through the border, and the block on Turkish Kurds), the Turks will be happy if it ties up their Kurds. Allied now with al Quaida, who can push north from around the Golan, they can push towards Homs or the sea. Israel may come on board if they see a cost free way of getting at a (by then) threatened Hamas.

The Kurds seem to be calling the shots.

We knocked out one 'heavy weapons position' and one Hilux then. At this rate it is going to take a long time to wipe ISIS out...
Tens of millions of quids worth of GR4 Tornado, vs. about fifteen grands worth of HiLux plus a paltry assortment of arms and munitions. Sledgehammer vs. nut.Digga said:

They mentioned on the news last night that the US had flown over 3000 sorties with only about 300 of them resulting in attacks A lot of our flights are Recce missions, its something the RAF are very, very, very good at, I also read a piece in a us paper with an interview with some high level bod in reference to the co-allition, he mentioned that the strikes would be in a rota pattern to enable each partner to rearm and take stock of the action so far.

They have some fairly nasty kit ( SA-24 etc etc ) , which makes them rather dangerous i reckon.
