Some stuff saying that the US have been flying drones over Kobani from Turkey -- Incirlik -- (but no-one wanted to admit it).

What do Kobani airdrops mean for regional politics?

A comment below that article makes a point. It discusses how quickly airstrikes from the B-1s became effective when the locals on the ground began sending up target coordinates. The ISIS fighters began dying in industrial numbers. Although they are dedicated and fanatical, overall they are not well trained and their battle tactics are rudimentry. The fear I have is, after their conventional ground-gaining attacks are thwarted, they will funnel their fanaticism toward more conventional terror tactics, some of which will be carried out in Europe and the US.

I do think we'll see that.

Would surprise me if there were no US or UK folk in Kobane (although the drones may be providing some intelligence) now.

Optimistically, I think we may be within 2 or 3 months of containment (in Syria, anyway) although I'd expect the remnants of the Civil War to grumble on.

Me too, however I seriously doubt it is. frown
But it must be; after all IS are devout Muslims and would never stoop to such bestial behaviour.

That woman's plight is saddening and disturbing. Each time one hears such things, I believe it chips a small peice of our soul off, any decent person dies a tiny bit when these things occur to innocent people. However, it is neccessary IMO to keep such things right in front of the public eye lest we forget and move on to the next big headline.

Read the whole article to see how sick these sons of bhes are. I would pay a fortune for five minutes with that bearded asshole. I'd dunk him in a barrel of swine blood so he'd be pondering his denial to heaven the whole time I am dragging him behind a car by his fking feet with a rolled up poster of Mohamed sticking out of his ass. Barbarism against barbarism is sadly the only way to deal with these fking dogs; they are the true infidels. Absolutely disturbing heaps of subhuman garbage!

One of the three C-130 drops when wrong. However, they flew over and destroyed that shipment. That pic is propaganda BS. Those grenades for example, the U.S. grenades have not looked like that since 1953. On a lighter note, the Kurds were Tweeting appreciation for the supplies. It is an unusual thought picturing desperate fighters out in a desert updating social media.

Quite the contrary -- they regard captured women as trophies of war, to be sold and/or used as sex slaves. And they despise the Yazidi "Devil Worshippers" more than most. Most of the female Kurdish soldiers retain one bullet to prevent capture.

While the Kurds are quite capable of propaganda/media manipulation (to deny them that is both naive and insulting) Kurdish women have a long tradition of standing up for their rights, and it does fit in with ISIS behaviour. I'm inclined to think it's true.

Tal Afar (where many of the captives are said to be held) might eventually be part of a move to encircle and re-take Mosul, but that will be quite a struggle.

True, it is us who really do not understand. If we search for the good inside of them all the while extolling the virtues of the wonderous things their ancestors brought to civilization (before fanatical brainwashing and inbreeding wiped all of that out)they will surely come around. Yeah right; I submit that grinding their worthless asses up in a tree chipper for garden fertilizer is a better use of time.

Totally agree. Words fail me. I've just searched for and watched an Afghan woman being stoned to death for adultery.

Words just fail, they really do. What a primitive, hellish society. And these are the 'people' we are funding and dying for.

I am beginning to believe that the whole Kobani battle is a large distraction while things are being orchetrated to go after Baghdad again. Watch and see if a massive assault on that city is not reported before too long.

Interesting. And odd. The US reports originally said that either (depending which you read) the arms were supplied by the Iraqi Kurds (and merely delivered by the US), in which case you might just get some ex-Iranian army M-16s in the mix, or that they were sourced from the former Soviet block countries (for reasons of compatability) which would explain the grenades.

AK-47 and M-16 use completely and utterly different ammunition: you'd chose, by all rational standards, to drop the Kurds AKs.

All valid points; you may be onto something. Either way, as you said, it's odd.
