Jesus, imagine surviving a downed plane & then being captured by these savages.
Fingers crossed for him, but I'd imagine he'll soon be making headlines in the worst possible way.

Horrible to think but the best he could have done is probably not pulled the eject lever.

To travel to the Islamic State, after what they've done to other foreign journalists, is both very brave and incredibly irresponsible and stupid.

Aye, and lended the IS propaganda machine a huge favor into the bargain.

What he says about the strength and capability if IS doesn't really gel with what we know about them.

Take their assault on Kobane - admittedly the Kobane defenders were bolstered in the end by air power, but a small force managed to consistantly repel a larger and significantlly better armed one (IS)

Yes absolutely. But an American plane would be very very unlikely to be shot down.

hmm maybe they are bombing from high altitude and let jordan&saudi planes do the job at lower altitude? I don't think there is much an american F16 could do against MANPAD if flares didn't work.

Nice shot; you don't miss even the tiniest of windows.

Politically I just can't imagine anyone signing off on putting either a U.S or uk pilot in serious harms way.

This was the 'permit' issued to the journalist so he could go about his business safely. How utterly surreal. And not a piece of paper you would want to lose lol.

"And they return to safety"

Therefore implicitly recognising that ISIS is not a place of safety.

Yes. Difficult for them to claim the the Japanese have been oppressing Muslims.
