Utterly horrific, whether Jordan will retaliate remains to be seen.

Looks as though IS have also put a bounty on other members of the Jordanian army and given coordinates of their whereabouts.

Yes, we need to carry on assisting the local kurds etc to do the fighting on the ground, and do our little bit taking them out using stand-off weapons (it is what drones were designed for after all).

OK, it's a fking expensive way of doing it, but I'd rather pay a bit more tax to keep them stocked up with Hellfires, rather than see any more of our finest get IED'd or hacked to death on some scumbags homevideo.

ETA fk me. Just seen the stills of the poor pilot. st.

I simply can't write down how I feel about this and what I believe would be the best/only solution.

Unlikely if their politicians who have to give the order are spineless appeasers like the British.

The same thought crossed my mind too. fk it. I think this is a strong enough reason to a bit of field testing.

Get the fkers in one place, surround it, drop women-and-children-out leaflets, then let rip. If not nuke, then the biggest Fuel/Air bomb money can buy.

Certainly poses a question about the likes of Saddam and Gadaffi and whether they were a necessary evil?

Spokesman for the Jordanian armed forces:

“The military forces announce that the hero pilot, Muath al-Kaseasbeh, has fallen as a martyr, and ask God to accept him with the martyrs,” Mamdouh al-Ameri said in a statement read on Jordanian TV.

“While the military forces mourn the martyr, they emphasize his blood will not be shed in vain. Our punishment and revenge will be as huge as the loss of the Jordanians.”

They've gained ground in Syria because coalition airstrikes haven't been mounted there, for a variety of reasons. In Iraq however, they've been given a right kicking.

Join forces with Assad, you simply encourage more overt and covert support for Isis by vast swathes of the Sunni community. A large number of which live in this country.

No easy solutions.

If these aholes are as devout as they claim to be, then the answer is not to kill them, as that's what they want. Surely we need to devise a punishment that will strike fear in their hearts rather than allow them to fulfil their so-called divine destiny. My suggestion is to round them up and put them in a very remote and secure place where they are utterly and permanently deprived of anything that will allow them to practice their 'faith', such as it is. Throw in just enough food to keep them alive, but not dished out on an individual basis: let them fight each other for it.

I couldn't think of a worse way than beheading to go till now, poor man! They are animals and something needs doing to eradicate them.

Thankfully Jordan are allegedly moving all Isis affiliated prisoners to the prison where state executions are carried out. hope this is a sign that they are carrying out their threat.
