Spokesman for the Jordanian armed forces:

“The military forces announce that the hero pilot, Muath al-Kaseasbeh, has fallen as a martyr, and ask God to accept him with the martyrs,” Mamdouh al-Ameri said in a statement read on Jordanian TV.

“While the military forces mourn the martyr, they emphasize his blood will not be shed in vain. Our punishment and revenge will be as huge as the loss of the Jordanians.”
Frankly, this 'martyr' st doesn't help things. They believe in the same god but are just a bit less extreme about how they go about showing it.

fk religion as a whole really.

I just saw the video. It's fking indescribable. If that was a loved one of mine, I think I'd just lose my marbles knowing that they'd died like that.

Genuine question, why would you watch that? I'm not sure I've got it in me to watch someone be burned alive. Not knocking you for it, all power to you but the pictures are bad enough.

I couldn't think of a worse way than beheading to go till now, poor man!
People have sadly become a little numb to the beheadings. Shock value isn't what it was, so new methods must be devised. If you haven't seen the footage (I would strongly recommend against it). The murder is a short segment at the end of quite a long propaganda piece with no English subtitles. Production values are quite high considering. If you didn't know it was real you might think it was a shock/horror movie. Multiple angles, effects etc. After the poor guy meets his demise (which sadly takes a while), an ISIS fighter in a digger pours rubble onto the cage before crushing it.

It's like the fkers have watched the Saw films and thought let's see how we can improve on this.

I hope the Jordanian response is swift and thoroughly brutal.

I don't know why I watched it, to be honest. All I know is I wished I hadn't. It is, quite literally, like something out of a horror film.

Only saving grace for the guy is that, had they wanted to, they could have taken hours or even days to torture him to death.

brutal beasts

without in any way condoning what IS has done here, if the pilot was on an offensive mission against IS positions then he is a slightly more legitimate target than many of those killed in previous IS videos

bad things happen to people fighting in wars

I expect Jordan, another nation of peaceful Islam, will retaliate with some rather special brutality of its own and be supported to some extent by the UK / US et al.

we don't know half of what is going on out there and whilst I am quick to agree that murders of this nature should be rewarded by a quick cruise missile through the window, I don't forget that one murder as a headline here is nowhere near the full picture of the atrocities being dealt out by both sides in this particular conflict

the whole thing is a terrible insight into humankind

Alternatively they could have released him back to his family and loved ones.

How anyone can seek out such videos and watch them beggars belief, the descriptions are more than enough.

If you've ever wondered where ISIS gets its finance, this is well worth a read. You will be shocked. Or maybe not.

I don't need to watch it to be disturbed by it, the old adage "What has been seen, cannot be unseen" is very very true here.

What are this lot actually after, do they even know ?

That obviously wasn't going to happen. Bailed out RAF bomber crews were routinely killed by German civilians during WW2. Drop ordnance on people and chances are they'll punish you for it.

As for watching the video, yeah it's properly st and it genuinely upsets me but I work in an industry that genuinely has to be mindful of IS and its activities and that includes its propaganda. Unless you watch the video you cannot quite describe the level of detail and thought that they have put into terrorising their enemies. It really is above and beyond any other execution video ever posted on the internet, and that is significant in itself.

they simply want to kill anyone who isn't Isis. They actually fight each other too they're so fked up.

I can't imagine anyone wanting to live in their lovely state if they ever succeed in creating one.

Theyre after the destruction of western civilisation, nothing less.
Theyre after the introduction of a warped religious ideology with themselves at the the top of tree.

Theres no way to beat that kind of insanity, not with talk at least, the only response would be to turn their whole country/ies into glass with a series of very large nukes.

But no ones currently got the balls to do what should be done to these critters.

Of course, the more territory they control the more it will cost them in keeping the local populations alive. Not sure if they've factored that into their grand plan. Before you know it they'll be facing the same problems as every other 'government'.

This is key. There will never be a peace. It's us or them. Plain and simple.
