it's a very sensible view. If God exists he'd be able to sort it all out as he's omnipotent, isn't he?

He certainly doesn't need people doing his dirty work for him...
I should have quoted selectively to be more clear. This is the bit I meant

Do you see a distinction between the Ideology that ISIS follow and mainstream Islam?

No.
Ah, help me out here. God and Father Christmas. Other than the colour of the beard what's the difference?
Thats an interesting question.

Surely if some people believed in father christmas they wouldn't feel the need to send missiles raining down on innocent children? Or maybe they would - after all - it's the chosen land?
So you're saying if everyone believed in Father Christmas the problem would just go away?

But can you answer the original question? I've posed it many times and not one person has ever been able to answer it...

Well other than the beard thing, someone pointed that out once so I've amended the question.

What an extreme view.

So ISIS and all muslims are the same in your eyes?
I presume the IDF and all Jews are the same in your eyes too? Jeez

Anyone else on PH share this? Come on, don't be shy.
Read my post properly.

I have disdain for ALL religions.

My comment isn't about the right or wrongs of the Israel/Palestine fighting but its about people willing to base their lives on a lie.

Another example that its all bks is the bulletproof Pope-mobile.

What about my comments that all the bad things that happen are gods fault?
What about your comments about things being gods fault? I'm not sure I have an answer or opinion on that. Does anyone else here? Maybe someone a bit more learned on religious theology could answer.

If you have disdain for all religions, then surely you can differentiate between a mainstream muslim person who wants to live their life a certain way in the UK, and ISIS who are hell bent on destroying everything in their path, including those mainstream muslims who they wouldn't hesitate to slaughter?

Think of this scenario. A group of people believe in father christmas as their saviour - they wouldn't feel the need to impose themselves on a piece of land they consider sacred, and terrorise an entire population into moving out. Plus they would get money in terms of royalties from coca-cola.

Win win all round I would say.

As you say, no one else has been able to answer it. Doubt I can either to be fair. What is your your take on the matter?

If they didn't believe in father Christmas they wouldn't consider the land sacred. The argument ceases to exist and everyone lives in peace and harmony.

If you can't differentiate between the stories of Father Christmas and God why do you believe in one and not the other?

There was another large group of people from this country who believed in Father Christmas's son who went off to the same land and smited several hundred thousand inhabitants in the name of the lad.

Religion = a crutch, and no longer needed in 2014. But some use it as an excuse.

Thats good - because all the muslims I know are horrified at what ISIS are doing, and I do think we all need to work together to combat them if they ever try to do anything in this country. Your mainstream muslim - who might walk around with a beard, or the woman might wear the headscarf (not the face veil - thats a different topic) is not who we need to be concerned about. It's the ISIS ideology followers who hide themselves away from the mainstream we need to be concerned about.

When I think about it - religion seems to be something that people follow in order to ensure they prevail following their earthly demise. Like an insurance policy to pacify the minds pre programmed concerns with dying.
More likely it's something that people want other people to follow, backed up by an illusory promise that they will prevail following their earthly demise. Like an insurance policy to pacify the minds pre programmed concerns with dying.

Bear in mind that back in the 1930s religion was well on its way out of fashion, and rightly so, and the ridiculous position in the world today is clear to see.
  • US presidents claiming a hotline to the Almighty
  • Tony Blair claiming a hotline to the almighty
  • Israel set up as a specifically religious state
  • Islamic drivel riding on the back of the above.
I believe your last example is in a class all by itself.

What was that quote someone said... Religion is like your genitals. You dont get them out in public and you dont force them down someone elses throat.

Something like that anyway...

So, KareemK, would you prefer to live under Shariah, within a Caliphate, or under Democracy in its current form?

Either answer is fine by me, so long as it is truthful
I'm not KareemK but I would answer: Neither- I would take the tax free benign dictatorship of the U.A.E. thanks wink
I dunno why people keep asking me this, I'm Jewish FFS.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but:

Why are news stations on TV/Radio not playing the mans voice? Surely widespread exposure may result in somebody recognising the voice?

If anyone does recognise the voice and the suspect is 'currently abroad' then that would surely be a good lead?
I would be pleasantly surprised if someone who recognizes him also turns him in.
