"Two British jihadists belonging to “the Beatles” Isis cell are set to be tried in a court circuit in Virginia, a state where the death penalty can be applied.

Alexanda Kotey, 35, and El Shafee Elsheikh, 30, were relocated from Kurdish detention in northeastern Syria to American custody this week as Turkey launched a long-planned military campaign in the area.

They are being transferred to Iraq by the United States after fears in Washington that they were liable to have escaped their Syrian prison as the guards turned their attention to the Turkish onslaught."

I wouldn’t execute them. Confine them to a tiny cell 23 hours a day with zero stimulus. No contact with anyone. They’ll go mad. It’s the least we can do. I hope they suffer years of mental turmoil.

I agree - I'd worry that execution would be played as martyrdom by ISIS, whereas in prison, they are just 2 men in prison for a long time.
