A jilted lover killed himself by standing in front of a train driven by his ex-girlfriend, it emerged last night.

Miss MacDonald, 29, was powerless to prevent a collision after he stepped on to the track in front of the train she was driving on one of Britain’s most scenic rail routes.
Mr Wells died instantly as he was hit by the train.

My mate works on the trains. When he started, one of his jobs was washing down the train after it had been hit. He used to find body part in all different places. Worst job ever.
That makes it sounds like loads of trains are coming in each day with body parts all over them. Fotic said:

I was always told that if you stand in front of a train you mean it, it isn't a cry for help or a "dramatic gesture" you do it because you want to die.
Horrible for the woman and yes, selfish, but I'd be surprised if "This'll show her" was his state of mind at the time.
I'd argue there must have been a bit of that, as I would assume he knew what train she would be driving, what time it went through and probably went there at that time/waited for her train.Horrible for the woman and yes, selfish, but I'd be surprised if "This'll show her" was his state of mind at the time.
He didn't just throw himself in front of the first train that came and it happened to be hers.....

Agreed, it can't have been entirely impulsive. He would have had to ascertain exactly which train she was driving and when it would be arriving in that exact location. He didn't just throw himself in front of the first train that came and it happened to be hers.....
Then get in the car and drive there.

A friend of mine used to work for BR (that tells you how long ago it was!), he told me about someone who tried to jump from a bridge in front of a train, but missed and landed on the engine room roof. They went straight through and into a huge cooling fan which chopped them up and threw the bits all over the place.Just when you think it can't get worse...

I worked with an apprentice about 20 years ago who was having girlfriend troubles but was taunted by a serious gang she knew. We tried to get him to stop worrying and get on with his life ...and it seemed to work. Then a few months on he didn't turn up for work one morning.
He'd got up at around 5am and just gone and stood on the local train line until the first train came along.
Tragic.

I remeber seeing on TV footage of a guy that stood in front of a train in a suicide bid. He got hit full on, and was mangled with most major bones broken, but somehow survived. He was interviewed during his recovery as well. Madness.
Saw a video recently of a guy who jumped down onto the tracks in front of a train but then appeared to change his mind and tried to get back onto the platform. Didn't make it. Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
