Seeing as everyone else has fred drifted; the biggest threat to the western world is sandal-wearing lentilists like Helen Caldicott, who want everyone to go back to living in caves and using candles for illumination, but not before despoiling the earth with windmills and solar panels and confusingly getting rid of refridgeration.

Proper threat is a desperate lunatic in charge o. a country with a capable military. So what you're looking for now is a country with an inherently fragile system of government that already has reasonably effective armed forces ... or nukes. In no particular order, China, Pakistan and Russia.
Russia is a kleptocratic mess. Stable in the short term because Putin is still popular, but that popularity could evaporate very quickly. Pakistan is only ever 1/2 an inch from political collapse. China has some major growing pains to overcome if it to negotiate a path from being a large county with a poor population (its current state) to a country with a greater GDP per capita and the change in aspirations that that will produce. China has lent heavily on pea-brained nationalism to try to maintain "unity" which really means Party control. That could run out of control and lead to conflict , or it could collapse in a heap and lead to a power vacuum,
