Colorado legalises marijuna, gets $100m in taxes this year
Discussion
I've just looked up the 10 most dangerous drugs., and no mention of this Cannabis stuff, so I assume it's not too bad.
http://metro.co.uk/2008/02/06/top-10-most-dangerou...
But Strangely the 5th most dangerous drug is something called Alcohol, and bizarrely it is perfectly legal, which I find very strange. Obviously I would never knowingly take a dangerous drug, but out of curiosity I searched in my local supermarket to see if they sold this 'Alcohol', but no luck. Whilst I was buying my weekly bottles of wine, and some Gin for the missus, I had a good look for some, but nothing called alcohol! I take it that because it is so dangerous the supermarkets don't sell it. Or is it, unknowingly to us, being sold under a different name? All a bit worrying really.

Most of us are addicted to booze to a greater or lesser extent, but you will still find some people getting all righteous about spliff and failing to realise that they are themselves regular users of a drug with plain medical and social downsides. I recall having this discussion with a bloke who was your typical (heavyish) social drinker, and he simply could not see that he was a drug user just as much as any stoner or cokehead is. I gave up and bought us some more beers.

I've lost count on these TV cop documentaries that raid a house in a nice street and find a few plants and the offenders get a fine. So ten cops, five vehicles, paperwork all for nothing.
They need to legalise it and control it.
Yep. They need to legalise it and control it.
Except in my village, they raided a house after a tip off from neighbours - lights on at all hours, vents out the window, big bags of 'chemicals'...
Found a bloody nice marine aquarium!

Most of these businesses are multi million dollar cash businesses as banks don't want to take their cash, but will happily take the cash from arms dealers and those laundering "real" drug money.
An Independent Scotland with Salmond at the helm will legalise everything to get the tax revenues in for a fairer countryMojocvh said:

But don't you remember the government funded research into cannabis where they came back said how it should be legalised and taxed, and then they were promptly sacked and the research rebuked.
If only the government would legalise it for recreational use. Annoyingly getting enough stoners organised to petition or protest anything is a hell of a task in itself.

Yeah, everyone knows that pot heads are also piss heads. Only yesterday my pot smoking mate mentioned if only they had an APP for delivering his favourite weed so he didn't have to drive whilst pissed up going to get his gear.

David Nutt, the man they sacked for doing his job properly and expecting the Home Sec to do theirs. If only the government would legalise it for recreational use. Annoyingly getting enough stoners organised to petition or protest anything is a hell of a task in itself.

Depraved? Why wasn't I told? Gladys, cancel the Vegas booking, we're going to gamble, have kinky sex with teenage hookers and do hard drugs, in Hastings.Edited by Breadvan72 on Sunday 24th August 09:35

When I was plod, no cannabis smokers tried to deliberately hurt me or anyone else. A couple of stoned drivers were a problem but I would much rather legalise Canabis and put the tax revenue into policing serious drugs like heroin.
Couldn't agree more. I despise enforcing laws against controlled substances in which the harm vs benefit of legalisation is in favour of legalising and taxing them. Not to mention the billions going into the hands of the most serious and organised criminals in the country. The war on drugs is dogmatic, irrational scandal.

Which sums the hypocrisy of the people who keep things the way they are nicely. Over half of all violent crime is linked to alcohol. If it were invented today it wouldn't be legal. kowalski655 said:

Worthing and Lancing actually use to have an illegal cannabis cafe about 8-9 years ago, the police eventually closed the place, but the only complaints from the locals was the adverse affect on parking in the vicinity.
