I never thought I would be surprised by a shooting incident in America again, but i was wrong.
Absolute madness.

Not just shot but killed yikes

Why would a 9 year old even have a shooting instructor?!

Indeed. I am trying to say 'Nine year old' in my Arnie 'Nine Millimetre' voice.

Why would they let a 9yr old near an Uzi, a small pistol or rifle fair doos I suppose but an uzi ffs?

Just tragically avoidable.

Unless I'm mistaken, when you fire a weapon, the recoil happens AFTER the round has left, so for the instructor to be hit, there must have been at least two rounds? Did she have it on automatic? In which case, it's even worse, not just giving an Uzi to a 9 year, but set it to auto too! Assuming an Uzi can be set to single shot?

Grown men struggle to keep an Uzi pointed somewhere in the right direction when firing.
what chance does a 9yr old girl have.

It is a good idea IMO to teach a child to handle and respect weapons at about 12 and up. A rifle or target pistol will suffice. A kid handling an Uzi.....somebody was truly stupid.

Therein lies the huge difference with our countries Jim. It has never entered my mind to teach my daughters, or come to that my son, to handle and respect weapons and I guess the large majority of the UK has a similar attitude.

The likelihood is that some country folk may well do so but I rather suspect they don't start out let alone end with an UZI 9mm. laugh

Perhaps the quality of the teaching alone is responsible for the friendly fire incidents? wink

Crikey! I'm nearly 52 and have never even held a real gun. Beyond a fairground air rifle, never held a gun at all.

When I was in Las Vegas, I went to the Las Vegas gun store to 'rent' a few guns and have a go down the range, great fun, but what I seen there was a very young girl, I'm talking 8 if you're lucky with her very own pink gun (no pink pistol jokes please) taking out targets with a picture of the taliban on them!

It's another world!

Well here's your chance to own your own air rifle, on special with Walmart at the moment just as easy as buying a bag of spuds.

Video of the incident released by the cops. Stops just before the moment obviously. The instructors last words are, 'Alright! Full auto!' before flicking the switch on the gun.
