Dead simple has there ever been a title more prone to controversy ?

In South Yorkshire Shaun Right refuses to go even though just about everyone is calling for him to do so after his Rotherham Social Services experiences.
In Lancashire they have a guy who was investigated for expenses irregularities.
Kent is stuck with Ann Barnes who seems completely deluded.
In Bedfordshire Olly Martins has been suspended from the Labour Party
The whole thing attracted sweet FA in the way of votes.
Has there ever been a role more mired in controversy in recent memory ?

Well if things get too bad, they've always got the red phone.

Nope OP there probably hasn't been such a major policy change which has been so bad, universally disliked and a complete clusterfunk from start to finish.

Even Maggie's poll tax had more supporters than this.

Total evidence that Cameron is not fit for purpose.

Oh by the way OP you forgot the ballooning office staff with lots of mates on the payroll at ridiculous salaries.
Then there was that youth ambassador where the silly bint spouted offensive stuff on ttter etc.

They are doing exactly what Cameron intended.

They are the fall guys for every failing caused by his policy of decimating Police budgets. After all it's now 'nothing to do wiv us guv'. The fact that a significant number of them demonstrate utter incompetence is an added bonus. (Although as politicians, it is to be expected)

More incredible than any individual fk ups (and there have been many), is the fact they they apparently cannot be removed from post until elected out.

Amazing.

It was a position devised by Politicians for Politicians. What do you expect. But they are still democratically accountable, Theresa May says so.

The meeting, being held at Rotherham Town Hall, is expected to trigger a formal by-election process.

In the November 2012 South Yorkshire PCC election Mr Wright was elected with 51.35% of voters backing him. The turnout was 14.53%.

Public money it's a bottomless pit to be wasted

Having read that, I am now wondering if 'flaky' Lakin is as flaky as Mereddyd Hughes came across in front of Vaz last week.

Not sure if it should be this thread or the abuse gang thread but Joyce Thacker has been signed off long term sick since Monday. Full pay naturally. Looked well enough in front of Vaz.

Almost tempted to post this on the public sector thread as it's getting on for a parody of what people write about public sector behaviour only for the usual serial apologists to run in and defend it with full on bullst bingo, jargon and acronyms flying left right and centre.

Did you see the Private Eye Rotten Borough stuff on Rothpol? They sound like a real dodgy lot.

With Thacker it could be all of that working 'tirelessly'.

Time to dismantle the various little insular police empires, strip out layers of senior plod management, get rid of ACPO and create a national police force.

Are we thinking of the same specific individual here?

Crime commissioners make no practical difference to the police authorities they replaced. Politics has no place in policing and now we have the Home Office saying "there are no targets", but ignore that PCCs are setting whatever they think will look good to get them voted in again.

You need layers of management / leadership in large organisations. That's as rational as saying let's strip out the layers of management at Tesco.

What do you think has been happening in the private sector for decades? The profit imperative drives efficiency. One example only: http://www.theguardian.com/business/2013/jul/31/fi...

You say "need layers of management", I say "need efficient management".

Like Aldi/Lidl?

But seriously the keyboard rattlers in the job need to be sorted. Days spent with excel graphs.

May says there are no targets. Think we all know the lies behind that one.

Agrees politics has no place. Get rid of them along with the rattlers, many cases two birds with one stone.
