George Galloway attacked

I understand, and am generally supportive of, the idea of boycott. The Israeli tourist thing though is just silly/stupid and at worst prejudiced. Its not that it was Galloway that bothered me with this assault. Rather, these are our elected representatives. They should be free to speak out on issues that the people who elected them care about. If he's broken any laws then arrest him. But otherwise I just find it very uncomfortable that our MPs can be attacked on the streets of our cities. I actually hope the assailant gets the book thrown at him and spends several years in prison.

Did he really say nobody from Israel was welcome in Bradford? I find this hard to believe.
Oh that's nothing for ol' George. He also walked out of a debate at Oxford University after discovering that his opponent was an Israeli citizen."I don't debate with Israelis. I don't recognise Israel. Israel: simple, No recognition No normalisation. Just Boycott, divestment, sanctions."
Which I'm sure will puzzle his mates at the Palestinian Authority who regularly meet with the Israelis.

Hitchens owned Galloway in their debate and the best GG could come up with is that Hitchens was a slug. The man makes his living off of his hatred for the UK and US policy.
In 2012 the times reported George Galloway, the Respect Party MP, is to earn almost £80,000 a year from a new Lebanese TV station accused of having links to Syria and Iran.
The outspoken Scot, known for his anti-imperialist views, recently began presenting a show on al-Mayadeen.
Galloway descends from a reflection on how many 'sons' are being killed in Syria, to lambasting an audience member for his support for the revolutions across the Arab world, accusing him at one point, of having been 'bought' by Saudi Arabia - accusing the man of "collaborating with Saudi Arabia against Syria.'
Galloway rhetorically asks, "So what you're asking us to believe is that a revolution supported by McCain, by Lieberman, by Britain, France, America, Israel, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, is a revolution for good? For haq [truth]?"
While Galloway seemingly encourages revolutions across the Arab world, he rails against the idea of revolutions supported by Western figures such as John McCain and Joe Lieberman.
He then goes on to farcically defend the Iranian regime, telling an audience member, "You make me sick", forcing him to walk out as Galloway utters, "Alhamdulillah" (praise to Allah).
"There is food in the bellies of the Palestinian people, coming from Iran" says Galloway, casually ignoring that fact most aid to the Palestinian territories comes from the United States and the European Union.
Galloway then goes on to clarify, "I am not with the Syrian regime. I am against their enemies because their enemies are worse than them. I was not with Saddam Hussein, I was against his enemies because his enemies were worse than him." A statement that, despite Galloway's careful worded approach, has already been interpreted to mean that he rejects regime change in Syria and thus, by default, is advocating a position that would keep the country locked in civil war.

I can appreciate this bit, regardless of who said it.

the context is france, uk, usa."I am not with the Syrian regime. I am against their enemies because their enemies are worse than them. I was not with Saddam Hussein, I was against his enemies because his enemies were worse than him."

A man who attacked Respect MP George Galloway while calling him an "anti-Semitic little man" has been jailed.
The pro-Palestine MP for Bradford West was left with cuts and bruises following the attack by drug addict Neil Masterson in Notting Hill, west London.
The 39-year-old from Kensington was jailed for 16 months for the attack.
He told Isleworth Crown Court he felt "morally justified" in attacking the MP because he was a "Nazi".
Masterson, who used to work for the Department of Work and Pensions and as a manager at the BBC, had previously admitted assaulting Mr Galloway and a second charge of common assault against a man who had been posing for a picture with the MP as the attack happened on 29 August.
'Kung-fu style' kick
The defendant, who was wearing a pink T-shirt with an Israeli Defence Force logo when he was arrested, told police officers Mr Galloway had a "shameful" attitude towards Jews, the court heard.
The MP believed he would have been killed if Masterson, who had "recently undergone a conversion towards Judaism", had been armed with a knife during their chance meeting, the judge was told.
Judge Aidan Marron QC said: "While you are no longer facing a charge of religiously aggravated assault, it would be unreal to ignore that the motivation for this... was your profound hostility to Mr Galloway's views."
He said Masterson's "loathing" of Mr Galloway was manifested by what he did at the start of the assault and said afterwards in interviews.
The attack happened when the MP was posing for a photo with a Moroccan doctor near his car in Golborne Road.
Prosecutor Michelle Nelson said Masterson approached them "in a rage" and mentioned the Holocaust.
The attack on the MP included 10 punches and a "Kung-fu style" kick that did not connect but caused Mr Galloway to fall into the road, where Masterson continued hitting him.
She said Masterson admitted to police he had said "anti-Semitic little man" before swearing at the MP and calling him "a morally and intellectually bankrupt person".
