Not sure which NATO thread to drop this.

Some NSFW language in the linked page, not a lot. No iffy images, though I do not know for the rest of the site. Might raise a titter

Clicky with some NSFW words

Still trying looking at the rest of the site and wondering........

Edit. it is an article titled "10 Things Obama NEEDS To Know BEFORE He Comes To Wales" BTW

I've heard there's all sorts of Helicopters landing in Celtic Manor.

The MET has also sent their friendly US truck looking urban pacifier things..

The fence is pretty impressive, or oppressive depending on if you're impressed by steel fencing or just a little pissed off about having your day-to-day life messed about with for the sake of some pointless PR meeting.
Fairly sure this lady wasn't too chuffed about it...

Absolutely nowhere to go, wouldn't fancy standing there myself!

No, they (including me) don't. I confess I couldn't see the reasoning for the lower limit just because of a fence until I saw this.
Mind you, for a while I was commuting in the Land Rover, so speeding was out of the question!

It has been quite interesting seeing what's going on each day, first the fence, then police presence, aircraft, and then this morning armed coppers strolling over one of the bridges over the A449.

If it's going to be as bad as predicted I think I'll work from home Thursday and Friday.

I tend to follow the rules on that stretch, as of course I do every where, the amount of times I have seen a camera van or police person with a hand held........

Off topic for here but the big events in the Millennium Stadium where footy or league (wash my mouth out with soap) were taking place they would be out in force on this stretch of road, unless the clubs participating were from the east.

Now you know the simple, logical answer as to why the Terror alert has been raised.

They ain't worried about us, they're worried about their own skins.
And we should be worried as the 9,000 coppers are all from forces around the UK.

Does that mean the 20 we had in Witney is now none? wink

All residing at the best hotel in Wales, apparently if you want to stay there it's £2k a night (not sure if that's a double room?).

I can confidently say this hotel has a swimming pool to beats most!

Imagine the tender contract for the fencing.

'Hi, could you put some fencing round our hotel urgently?'
'Yeah, no problem. How much would you estimate, we can do 500 yards quickly?'

'Oh we want a tad more than that... 12 MILES!'
There's a pool at a Disney resort that tops that IIRC, but I digress. smile

Where they staying then? The Celtic Manor is nothing like £2000 a night. Normally it's no more than any other decent hotel.

I've stayed at the Celtic Manor a few times, for work and pleasure, I've no idea why people get so wound up about it. The rooms are dated and chintzy and that the pool is nothing to write home about, that picture does it a lot of justice. Distinctly underwhelming place.

So it seems there will be another 4 coming in tomorrow! 1x french frigate, 1x Norwegian corvette (looks very cool this one!), 1x dutch minesweeper, 1x Lithuanian minesweeper. There's really not much space out there, so it will be a tight fit!

Not going to get much work done!

Can you get right down to the Roath Basin to see then or is it all fenced off? Might pop down there on my lunch tomorrow.

Minesweepers? That's a new one. HMS Duncan looks sweet though, though whether being reminded of this:

is good or bad, I leave to you wink.

Today's activity was spotting five different jurisdictions of police. One of my colleagues also finds the ones on bicycles (apparently practising formation riding) hilarious hehe.

Had the 4 American plans circling past my works around crosskeys been spotted pretty much everywhere around the south wales valleys very impressive.
My dad works in Cardiff apart from more cops around and a few road closers nothing much has changed for him but he does get the train in.

Mountain out of a mole hill is being made by a load of people.

I've never seen anything like it. Police on every other motorway bridge from Cardiff to Bristol, police on very arm of the main roundabouts, huge numbers of police vehicles everywhere, squads of motorcycle outriders doing test runs. It feels the the whole place is one big fortress. The next few days are going to be interesting.
