The sooner Boris takes power and starts leading this monkey cage the better!
Boris is some sort of revolutionary now is he?!Grumfutock said:
Sorry, but is nobody else outraged that this post attracts a greater salary than being the Prime Minister?
This once great nation is fked beyond all belief.
The PM job isn't a big payer for political reasons, but it's hardly the main driver for 'applicants' but if you try to equate is to the public sector it's a pittance - try to find a private entity that has c2.5 million employees, a turnover of 620Bn and 63 million 'customers' - the closest I could find Walmart their CEO Doug McMillion gets paid about $25m a year and doesn't have to worry about how many people will be killed by decisions he makes. This once great nation is fked beyond all belief.
Of course most, if not all PM will use their influence to secure lots of cushy board of directors roles and lucrative speaking jobs once they've left office.
As for the Clerk of the Commons, it's no doubt going to be a massively complex role requiring a very competent person to do it properly and as others have said Clerks in Chambers can earn £100k a pretty easily outside of London, I'd guess £200k wouldn't be out of the question in London.

Well in that case I am in the wrong job. I will apply for retraining immediately! Of course most, if not all PM will use their influence to secure lots of cushy board of directors roles and lucrative speaking jobs once they've left office.

Will the salary of the Clerk of the Commons be lowered by Johnson?Grumfutock said:

Why did you say it would be good for Johnson to be Prime Minister then?

The man who said he would serve his full second term as London mayor but has now decided that whilst he will continue to be mayor he would also like to be an MP at the same time. Will he take the pay for both jobs whilst doing neither of them full time?Grumfutock said:

There are a number of posts that pay more than the PM.This once great nation is fked beyond all belief.
Everyone knows the big money comes in after he's finished with the job. Just ask TB.
