Boris is some sort of revolutionary now is he?!
No, but at least we all know he is a fruit loop so our expectations wont be to high. It will also put the fun back into politics, PM question time will be a scream!

Sorry, but is nobody else outraged that this post attracts a greater salary than being the Prime Minister?

This once great nation is fked beyond all belief.
The PM job isn't a big payer for political reasons, but it's hardly the main driver for 'applicants' but if you try to equate is to the public sector it's a pittance - try to find a private entity that has c2.5 million employees, a turnover of 620Bn and 63 million 'customers' - the closest I could find Walmart their CEO Doug McMillion gets paid about $25m a year and doesn't have to worry about how many people will be killed by decisions he makes.

Of course most, if not all PM will use their influence to secure lots of cushy board of directors roles and lucrative speaking jobs once they've left office.

As for the Clerk of the Commons, it's no doubt going to be a massively complex role requiring a very competent person to do it properly and as others have said Clerks in Chambers can earn £100k a pretty easily outside of London, I'd guess £200k wouldn't be out of the question in London.

Well in that case I am in the wrong job. I will apply for retraining immediately!

Will the salary of the Clerk of the Commons be lowered by Johnson?

Knowing Boris he will change it to pay them in cucumber sandwiches or some other wacky scheme.

I have no idea, has he ever spoken of it or mentioned a policy decision regarding it?

Why did you say it would be good for Johnson to be Prime Minister then?

So nothing whatever to do with a discussion about the salary of the Clerk of the Commons?

May I suggest reading back as the intent is self evident.

I don't understand. It appears that you've shoehorned in an entirely unrelated comment about how you'd like Johnson to be PM into a discussion about the Clerk of the Commons' salary. What was your intent?

The man who said he would serve his full second term as London mayor but has now decided that whilst he will continue to be mayor he would also like to be an MP at the same time. Will he take the pay for both jobs whilst doing neither of them full time?

Really doesn't sound like a load of money for a massively important role. Any half decent London lawyer will be pulling down a lot more than that.

There are a number of posts that pay more than the PM.

Everyone knows the big money comes in after he's finished with the job. Just ask TB.
