Tristram Hunt just before the election: "Labour's education policy is great, the Tories will destroy the education system" etc etc.
After the election: "Actually I may have been lying - Labour lost the plot on education".
This seems to be a running theme amongst key members of Miliband's shadow cabonet post election - it says just as much about them as it does about Ed.
Ed Miliband appeared uninterested in schools policy and muddled his priorities with the tuition fees cut, writes shadow education secretary Tristram Hunt

It certainly does. They'll lie in public and say anything to win power, even when they know it's a lie and bad policy. It means you categorically cannot trust anything they say in future either as you know they'll say whatever they think will get them what they want. After the election: "Actually I may have been lying - Labour lost the plot on education".

I would have more respect for an MP who crossed the floor because of their party's bad policy rather than lie about it and hope they get a cabinet position.

Another one who's yet to realise his opinions are out of sync with the rest of the population.
Well this isn't really true. Labour were the second most popular party at the election. His views may be out of sink with the majority but it certainly isn't the rest of the population and whilst I don't agree with him, those who are right tend not to be the majority, intelligence is a rare thing.Slaav said:
What is/was he like? Still in touch?
I always find it interesting to find out how much is the media manipulation of people and their personalities vs the real them.
Yep, still in touch. Nice guy who doesn't take himself very seriously at all. His only political involvement on FB and Twitter was the Cool Ed Miliband stuff. He's an Advertising Exec, this was much more about having a viral campaign on his CV than it was a genuine political statement I think. Cool Ed was covered by pretty much every major UK media outlet as well as the Washington Post and then to top it off he's gone and got himself a viral video. Good work I'd say. I always find it interesting to find out how much is the media manipulation of people and their personalities vs the real them.

Former Labour leader Ed Miliband has lavished praise on his successor, Jeremy Corbyn, saying he has what it takes to be prime minister and praising him for recruiting new members to the party.
He also congratulated John McDonnell, the shadow chancellor, for recruiting serious international economists to advise him on the future of the British economy.
