An hour-long speech and the most interesting point to come out of it - who's this Gareth that he keeps talking about?

I'll admit I did wonder if there was a bit of editing going on there, hence my previous (tongue in cheek) post just moving the words around.

You're right though. It's bizarre and a bit weird and worrisome.
It was a genuine interview - this is the Guardian's piece about i

It must be the new Labour strategy - Chukka Umunna was doing a "lite" version of this on 5 Live this morning; not answering the question and repeating some barely related claptrap.

Did non of you bother to listen to Ed Millibands speech today ? Could you not give up an hour and a half of your time to spare to listen. 90 minutes to spare for a young man who has given so much to his country ?
A man with passion and vision ? A man with integrity and the answers to the problems we face.

His speech was brilliant (though I admit to turning over to watch Agent Gibbs in NCIS after a few minutes) I know his speech was brilliant as lot's of people being interviewed about it said it was.

In Eds post Labour Victory world everyone will be equal and the NHS will be saved.
I can't wait.
And agent Gibbs worked it all out too.

Edited to alter spelling mistake due to being extremely excited when posting.

Such a term does not do him justice but I can see you too realise he is our savour
When he claimed it was "his team" that saved the United Kingdom and kept us all together I wanted to weep with joy. When he mentioned the team by name and got to Alastair Darlings name tears of a different kind welled up.

Anyway it turned out that Agent Gibbs realised the woman involved in the case has been abused by a guy at a fast food restaurant who used to beat her with a spatula type thing. At the end the family who had adopted her decided to still love her. Another case closed.

It's just not safe to go anywhere near a TV for fear of seeing or hearing him at the moment. I haven't watched the TV news for weeks (genuinely!).

Imagine if he was Prime Minster?! Terrifying.

His main push today seemed to be tax the rich people (standard Labour) and spend it on the NHS to hire more people. Hasn't the NHS already got quite a few large holes in its budget before it starts increasing staff numbers?

It is a noble enough venture but his union masters will compel him to divert much of the budget into pay increases for the staff, rather than additional capacity for the NHS.

What is this fascination with memorising a speech? Some people van pull that off (Brown of all orators!) Ed simply can't, so it came across as juvenile and jumpy, the soundbites are just awful! Why not just fecking read the notes so you don't sound like you've forgotten or are making it up on the hoof (which with some of it, he probably was).

disappointed the mansion tax is starting to become mainstream, just a matter of time before £2m drops and drops and drops to catch us all, and seemingly the cash wont pay down the deficit (unmentioned!) it will be given to NHS management, renowned for their prudence...

...thought it would come mainstream, all the dropping hints a while ago was a softening up process. As you say, the old tactic of fixing it so the tax gradually affects more and more people will surely be played out - just how inheritance tax is being used - get it in first by appealing to the gullible / envious / resentful who, as usual, are fooled into voting for their own increased taxes down the line.

We are so fortunate that the Labour Party has such a depth of talent that if, for example, Ed were to get trampled to death by an adoring crowd after delivering one of his brilliant speeches, they would have no trouble at all promoting a new leader from the shadow cabinet since it is packed with people the public already recognise, admire and respect.
