Banning them from a press conference.
That'll sort it.
Yes, its very telling, they must have really bugged Salmond, one of these journo's is the one Salmond tried to belittle with a bag of sweets. Methinks Salmond may get offered a few bags of sweets in the future. Quite funny, could not have happened to a more pleasant person :-)That'll sort it.
The media are portraying this as a great victory for 'the Union'.
Even as a wee English bd, I can see that it was too close to call. And what's the chances of most 'No' votes born of uncertainty, rather than the preservation of the Union?!
We Snotty English shouldnt fool ourselves; the Scottish still hate us.
(as we remain totally indifferent to 'them')

Weren't we told that Cameron should resign immediately if it was a yes? By the same logic shouldn't Salmond resign having lost?
Why would he resign? He has to push for the powers promised. His job has just begun. Quitting now would be failing Scotland. This wasn't a school playground punch up.Like any relationship breakup the Scots aren't happy (I expect a majority voted No because the uncertainty, but that doesn't mean they are happy about it) We have a lot of work to do to maintain the partnership, something Westminster took for granted. We can do this by voting for the party who genuinely prioritises Scotland in the next election.

As a Scot I've certainly never hated the English, nor have most Scots I've ever met. A very small minority of the Yes voters might, but that's no different than a very small minority of English hating us.Olivera said:

A beautiful picture. Some 28 of 32 Scotland wards voted "No".
That is 88% "No".
After ~3 years of relentless campaigning, with intimidation and violent behaviour thrown in for good measure, the "Yes" campaign got thrashed.
All that effort. All that money spent. Over several years. And they still lost.
It is time for the "Yes" supporters to eat some humble pie and sink quietly back into the background.
The "silent majority" defeated the extremist minority.
Actually it is a bit like the US do with GOP v Democrats where the whole of the country is either blue or red, blue mainly on the coasts and red in the mid part.

And blues won.
Like I said before, there are actually no losers here in this vote, apart perhaps from the politicians, there are a lot of positives here at home and on the wider world stage.
The referendum, with historical hindsight, and ignoring the result, will be seen as a good thing.

You are doing that moron thing and believing that the actions of a tiny minority of Neanderthals is representative of the greater population.
It's nonsense.

If she's his successor then that's the end of the SNP's credibility. She is a waste of skin.
I'm sad that Salmond has resigned. He will be a big loss.
I can't stand her but she enjoys high approval ratings (higher than Salmond).I'm sad that Salmond has resigned. He will be a big loss.

Rumour is he will resign.
I really hope he doesn't resign.Rumour is he will resign.
Even though I don't agree with him and the SNP say/do, he is one of the finest politicians of his generation and is easily the best First Mininster we've ever had in Scotland.

No it's not, I don't think any publication should choose a side, but it's ok for an individual journalist to take a position, iyswim. Sadly these days the only way to get an informed view is to read multiple sources.
However I think the Telegraph's coverage of this referendum has been diabolical. In the past it's been a newspaper I've enjoyed reading and I've been quite shocked by its campaign of bias and misinformation.

Seriously?
How can you say they're a one trick pony? Have you seen their track record in Holyrood?
The "ticket" (or one trick) that he was elected on was to achieve devo max or independence. He obviously saw it the same way as, having failed to pull off that trick, he's resigned. How can you say they're a one trick pony? Have you seen their track record in Holyrood?

Bet you're just jealous that we have a credible alternative to Lab/Lib/Con.
Nope, I'm happy that we have a credible alternative to Lab/Lib/SNP Edinburger said:
One word response to your "really anti-English xenophobia" comment - pathetic.
Nice debating skills. Go one then - how many times did the Yes campaign discuss the Welsh/N.I. part of the Union? And how many times did they decry the Westminster influence? Tell me that a large part of the nationalist support was not based on an anti-English campaign?Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
