Miliband is even worse than Salmond, at least he has his countrymen self interest in line with his own. Miliband is completely out of touch with his country, worse he has no spine, he's been anonymous throughout the scot referendum campaign because it's been split fairly down the middle and he can't take a principle stand on anything, or make a decision, until he can see the winning side. If the UK ever got in a tight spot requiring some balls or some unpopular steel this wet blanket will flop, and we'll be right royally fked over. Traitorous!

This thread is not making me feel proud to be english. Salmon didn't do anything wrong. He seemed to be a man of principle and a great many scottish seemed proud to have him represent them, which makes him okay in my book.

I didn't agree with him, but the general juvenile gloating and name calling on this thread is as bad as anything I heard from the scottish during the campaign.

Frankly unimpressed.
Agreed.
Don't worry, lads, you'll get over it.

Why can't anyone tell me what these powers are?

I've read the pledge and it sounds like the Scotland act to me!
I am presuming the Scottish govt want more devolved powers. At the moment they have powers over things like health, education and housing in Scotland but Westminster controls nuclear power, benefits, immigration, defence etc. I'm not sure what, if any, will be devolved to the Scottish govt.

I always think of Scottish people as being quite astute and a bit savvy.
Go out in Glasgow tonight and see whether your opinions change.
Those are British people.

...which is why only 13% of Scottish residents identified as British in the 2011 census.

It's not just Scotland pushing for federalism; Wales, NI and the discontented periphery of England also seem quite enthusiastic. Even our beknighted PM says so.
Disconnected periphery of England? That would be all of it then. The only issue I have is that it will mean more politicians, which can only be a bad thing.
Which is why getting rid of the UK was/is the simple and effective solution!

Yet in yesterday's vote 55% identified themselves as British.

If the No campaign deliver on their promises, which already seems unlikely, I'll give credit as due.

I will not pretend to have any affection for the UKofGB&NI and I'll not support it at the ballot box.

I joined the SNP today. smile
