Salmond in Holyrood just now just said that nobody will get chased for poll tax debts, referring to the people who stuck their head above the parapet by registering to vote in the referendum.
It's the sort of bread and circus stuff you would normally associate with developing countries. Would look great on the CV you send in for the EU membership application.s2kjock said:

Angry Salmond is just not going to disappear off into the horizon quietly, is he. Does he realise just what he has done to this country. He did not even win in his own area, what does that say.
Pay up you "Chiselling Weasels" If not, send me my money back.

That's just it - if the debts haven't been written off, then letting people off with them is grossly unfair to all those who did pay.Like it or loath it (I personally would be in favour of a poll tax - it's much fairer than council tax is) - it was a legitimate tax and should be paid. There are many taxes I don't like - but tax evasion isn't the way to go about getting them changed.

Fluff, have you seen the latest report on the value of 'made in Britain'? Seems to contradict what you have been saying about it being dead.

Not really surprising. The Union flag is recognizable worldwide.......the English, Welsh and Scottish flags not so much.http://m.marketingweek.co.uk/4011803.article
SO Mr Salmond was on R4 this morning.
Apparently a "huge gap" has opened up between the promises that were made as part of the "vow" and what is going through Parliament at the moment. Vague hints were made that "people of Scotland will be angry etc at Westminster now clearly reneging on promises" etc.
Yet Hague was on afterwards saying every promise was being kept, and earlier than planned too. Both can't be right... so, who to believe?

enough of these fking idiots
Whilst your frustration is palpable, I fear that the damage is not over, and that Salmonds tactics are precisely to ensure that the whole thing not only does not go away, but that he has a two stage plan for getting another vote in the next 5 years. enough of these fking idiots
1. Say that Westminster has reneged on its vow - that is the language he is using already - and that the 55% were conned
2. Use the above to ensure a significant SNP vote in upcoming elections and thence the SNP will use that in turn as a platform to press for a new referendum on the basis that they had been conned.
It's a devious strategy because Salmond will have stood down by the time the voting starts, so he can claim it's not about him craving power. Plus, by couching the debate in terms of "westminster having reneged" it instantly appeals to the now well established sense of injustice that has been such a unifying force within the YES camp whilst simultaneously putting westminster on the back foot in any debate.
I fear the Nat are far from accepting the will of the 55% - This is going to get nasty very quickly!!!!!

Well if you want to keep your urine at normal levels, don't follow Irvine Welsh on Twitter, he seems to be stoking the 45, and completely ignoring the settled will of the Scottish people (to be expected I guess). 1. He also doesn't seem to be a fan of UKIP, claiming they are racist separatists. This may be true, but what I don't understand is, how are they any different from the SNP?

I heard this too - the thing is the SNP should rightly smash Westminster IF the deadlines come and go and no powers transfer. To kick off before anything has even been debated is odd? Hague has confirmed for the second time on R4 Scotland will get the full powers regardless of the England question yet SNP seem to ignore it. Why is that? If it turns out to be lies fair enough
Sadly Salmonds promise to settle the divisions in Scotland whatever the result turned out to be has been found to be lies - and in case a Yes voter pops up what has he done to eliminate any divide?
