Anyone care to guess what the UK's oil revenues will be when the next couple of GERS are out? IIRC we've sat at about £5bn for the last year or twa.
In the news today Oil experts stating that one key oil price has always been $80/barrel at which point they will close the mature fields and postpone new discovered costly to extract fields for the future. In addition tax on oil revenue is going to be decreased and further tax invested as grants for the oil companies - the thing is this will mean a huge cut to Scotland's budget and as they have to balance the books I'm interested in what they are actually going to do? Its not a matter of if they had gone it alone its hard facts of life now for next year they will have to make some challenging choices.

Some of my favourite whiskys are Japanese, and at only £100/bottle the winner looks like a bargain. I might well buy one......yafukr! They seem to be trading at ~£625/bottle, unlikely to be enjoyed at that price.
I've scored a 12yo Yamazaki for less than £50, so at least I'll get to enjoy a hint of what I'm missing...
There really aren't any Scotch whiskys made in such tiny quantities, due, in large part, to the licencing and duty laws of the occupying collonial power...

Salmond brought the whole of UK politics to a new low, He had no plan for a drop in oil price, or problems with landing the oil, I am amazed he got the votes he did, and to be honest, i think he was to
I'm far from his biggest fan. but I disagree with you there. He has engaged an unprecedented amount of people in politics, has overseen the growth of the SNP from a minority party to winning a majority in an electoral system designed to never allow a majority, and the SNP now sits bas the third largest party in the UK (based on party membership).
Not quite "the whole of UK politics to a new low", eh?

you need only look at his reaction to his effigy being burnt
how many times did he say tory council?
The effigy was made by a PRIVATE organisation which has fk all to do with the council tory or otherwise
Of course in his ideal scotland everything would be controlled by the state
Don't forget he got thrown out of the SNP in 1979 for being a communist

I think he really tried to avoid the facts,I live in a country with an economy based on gas and oil, when world prices fall, the government cut spending, and stop new projects and we have much more gas and oil, plus 1mil population
most of the No vote simply did,nt believe him
"Helen Rimmer".
Interesting how everyone and their mate is now an expert on the process and risks of fracking. I wonder if we'd voted yes, and the SNP explained how fracking would make us all rich, if the 51% would hold an entirely different view to the present?
Probably!
Cameron should bring his whole cabinet up to the sttiest, SNPest town in Scotland and just announce that fracking is outlawed on UK soil. The Nats wouldn't know what to do with themselves

And it must be said, the ongoing reduction in the oil price just goes to prove what complete and utter nonsense the SNP have been spouting.
If the vote had been Yes, it would be interesting to see how the Scot Government would make the numbers work against the background of a falling oil price. The numbers in support of independence didn't even stack up when oil was $100 a barrel - now that it is $80 a barrel, the Scot Govs numbers look like a joke.

I am inclined to agree with the notion that the SNP is more of a force for bad, than for good. Any force which exists for the cause of separation rather than integration, or looks to divide rather than unite, isn't a good thing in the modern world IMO.

I wonder if Edinburger would care to elaborate on the apparent assumption that the growth of a particular party is good for politics. Reading his post again just looks like an advert for the SNP. It's an overused cliche, but could we say the same thing about Hitler - engaging more people, party growth, massive majority etc? Probably. And it must be said, the ongoing reduction in the oil price just goes to prove what complete and utter nonsense the SNP have been spouting.

Re. the oil price - the Nats have gone quiet on this front. They're too hung up on shouting "ah but I thought the oil was running out!!!!!!!!!" whenever a new discovery is made. (Just basing this on the few who remain posting independence nonsense on my Facebook feed )

~£625/bottle
If only you hadn't wasted £500 on the Rev Could you point me to the Wings accounts? Surely the Rev has a detailed break down of how the alledeged £150k in donations has been/is being spent.
The published figures suggest that 250000 copies of the wee blue book were produced but that might well include downloads; who knows.
Even if we assume 250000 copies were printed and distributed by wings his own figures suggest thats only £7000.
